Urgent: Need Help Opening Workflow

Hi all, 

I spent days mapping out a workflow that is now giving me the message 'Root Element is Missing' every time I try and open it. Does anyone have any advice on how I can fix this? If I try and open via Notepad, I get a blank sheet as a response. 

Hoping this isn't a lost cause - I appreciate all of the help in advance.

Do you have any more information or examples to provide of the workflow that is having the issue?

I wish I had more information to provide better insights.. but it's as simple as this error not allowing me to open the file. It's an elaborate workflow, lots of tools being used. But nothing more complex than a couple API connections, of which have never given me issues in the past. 

I simply cannot get the file to open because of that error in the attached photo

This error relating to issue with XML format.
