Hello Community!

For today's Thursday Thought, let's talk about democratizing analytics success stories!

In a recent Alter Everything podcast episode, I spoke with @DavidSweenor and @MelissaBu about their new book,"Democratizing Analytics: Compete and Win by Empowering Your People with Data". Not only do their share examples of organizations successfully democratizing analytics, but they also share step-by-step tips and a checklist for how you can get started. Tune in below or on your favorite podcast app (Apple Podcasts, Spotify).

And now let's hear from you:

How have you been enabled to make analytics more accessible throughout your organization? What governance best practices do you have in place? Has your team successfully transitioned away from spreadsheets?

Analytics used to be an afterthought for my org. Layers upon layers of spreadsheets just filled up everyone's time.

With Alteryx, it swept away the old and ushered in the new - analytics is now covering a big portion of the org's day-to-day work, and allows for users to spot mistakes, anomalies, actionable insight, and even automate mundane reports in seconds. With more time on their hands, they can evaluate processes better and suggest improvements - seeing a huge quality of life improvement overall.

In terms of governance best practices, we have been establishing data clinics whereby we go through the entire workflow build, the storage process, hashing sensitive data, and implementing interfaces to help users better utilize Alteryx and its outputs.

@caltang, great to hear that the spreadsheet rabbit hole is a thing of the past!

As @MelissaBu said in the podcast interview - "Spreadsheets are the scratchpad for the analytically minded thinker, and you should not be attempting to productionize work that took place on a scratch pad."

Awesome tips for governance as well - thanks so much for sharing!
