Hello Everyone!
I know this isn't a Gallery or Publishing question, but there is no "Community" discussion board so here I am!
I see many posts in the Community that have hyperlinks with "@" and then a member's username highlighted in light blue. I believe this is called "@mentioning" or something. I would like to be able to mention people in my posts. My colleague showed me that when he types the "@" symbol when replying to a post, a list of usernames immediately appears and he can choose one. This does not happen for me. Can someone please tell me how to accomplish this? Is there a specific setting I need to change in the Community or my web browser?
(This problem occurs in both Internet Explorer 11 and Chrome V51; My "Turn on tagging" and "Show tags in posts" Community settings are checked)
Thank you!
Solved! Go to Solution.
When I am inside of your post and replying, then the @ sign brings up all of the members who have posted on this topic:
When I want to add someone else to the conversation, I type @jdunkerley79 and after a short pause I see names:
I'm using Chrome and it works for me there as well as in Safari. I haven't changed any settings for this to work. I'd be happy to have a WebEx with you and help you troubleshoot. Just PM me with you email and I'll see if I can help you.
Cheers,
Mark
After watching you try to flag/unflag, sign-in/sign-out, try different browsers (Chrome,FireFox, IE) I think that this is a problem for Tag Busters ( @JulieH or @BrianO) to resolve.
Hoped for a solutions with you, but escalation is needed.
Cheers,
Mark
Thanks @MarqueeCrew for the flag! Sorry for not catching your question and issue sooner, @DultonM.
We actually do have a community discussion area - we went ahead and made it more discoverable from the home page & navigation. Thanks for letting us know it was a little hard to find!
The @mentions feature unlocks at the Asteroids level (find out more about User Ranks here). The good news is that with your level of participation, you should be there soon! :)
Hope this helps, don't hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.
Regards,
Thanks for the insight, Julie! I also appreciate you moving the Alteryx Community board with the other discussion boards. I shall eagerly contribute to reach the Asteriod level!
Also a shout out to Marquee Crew for working with me 1-on-1 to try and discover the source of the issue!
For me, the "mention" works, but the nice little drop-down does not appear. If I try to mention @JulieH, for instance, it looks like this:
So it lacks the drop-down... but if I have her name exactly crorect, and then hit 'Enter', it will correctly convert it to a hyperlink. My assumption is that the failure to display the drop-down was due to some sort of callback that our tight security is blocking, since it works great for me at home, and only fails at work. (Running same version of Chrome in both locations).
I just earned Asteriod level yesterday! Now I can mention people! Strangely, the first day I had the feature, I experienced the same problem as you, @JohnJPS. But today the drop down does appear. I used IE11 both days so I am very confused... At least the hyperlink gets made both ways!
Hey, cool - lookee there: works for me too now! @JulieH did reach out to me the other day and ask for more specifcs. Today it works. Thanks!
Hurray! Congrats on the rank up @DultonM, and glad to hear the @mention drop down issue has resolved for both of you. Let us know if you experience any other issues or notice oddities.
Cheers,
