Alteryx in Accounting

chris-jackson

I'm currently a student, soon to enter the world of external auditing in public accounting. We are learning how to use Alteryx in one of my courses right now, and so far I am enjoying it (though I am grasping it fairly slowly). I am curious how Alteryx might be used in the real world in this field. Any stories or experiences are appreciated! Thank you.

Hi @btran8,

In my opinion, the best learning materials are interactive lessons. They will show you all the most important tools available in Alteryx.

The second thing would be having a goal to achieve certification:

https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Certification/bd-p/product-certification

Here you have all information about the requirements for Core certifications:

A great resource of knowledge is also weekly challenges. After you will complete all the interactive lessons please go to the weekly challenge index and check the data preparation challenges for the beginner level.

If you will be interested in one particular topic you can also check the video lessons. They are available bellow:

Hi @andrevvmartinez,

Alteryx is quite a popular tool in finance. Especially in some bigger banks. I am not sure if this is very popular in accounting.

I would suggest going to the most popular job search portal and see how many job posts there are with Alteryx in the job description.

Do the same activity on Linkedin and you will have some level of understanding. Please also keep in mind that when you will finish school Alteryx will be a more popular tool then it is now.

What I would suggest is learn more about data, excel, Alteryx as this will give you some competitive edge against others. If you would be really interested in Alteryx you will land a job that will utilize your accounting skills + Alteryx skills at the same time but you would be determined to do so.

An excellent way would be getting some experience with Alteryx for good to help some kind of organization with Alteryx.

I hope this was helpful to you.

If you will have a goal it will be easier to learn and you will also get a great mark from your colleague course.

If you are interested in tips on how to use Alteryx please refer to this link:

This is a video that shows 30 tips in 30 minutes.

If you still didn't finish all the interactive lessons I strongly suggest doing it. They will show you all the most important tools available in Alteryx.

Hi, my name is Zeus Rangel and I'm just going over Alteryx and I'm finding it very fun. I'd like to know if it would've been helpful learning about Python before jumping into Alteryx?

Hi @David_Huynh ,

Welcome on board! You're in the right place, you'll meet a lot of Data passionates here in our Community.

I would definitely recommend starting with Getting Started Learning Path in Alteryx Academy, and as you get more comfortable -- making an attempt at doing some of the beginner Weekly challenges since you're discovering Alteryx Designer.

Feel free to start a new conversation in the Discussions section if you have any questions.

I wish you luck, enjoy learning & keep us posted.
