Working on building your data science knowledge and skills? (Maybe you’re an ADAPT participant? Welcome!)

This week's Alter Everything podcast episode brings us a conversation between @LeahK and @JoeM about the challenges and opportunities of studying data analytics and data science. As they discuss, this field is immense, and it would take an entire career -- or two or three! -- to explore and master every topic within it.

So where do you even begin? Fortunately, we have a ton of great resources right here. To focus your effort, here’s a guide to some posts here on the Data Science Blog and some episodes of our Alter Everything podcast that will deepen your understanding of fundamental concepts and skills in data science. Start at the top and work your way down the guide to advance from gaining familiarity with key ideas in the field all the way through building and evaluating a model.

Many of these posts are general introductions to data science concepts, written with accessibility and -- dare we say it? -- fun in mind! Some posts are specific to Alteryx tools, but they still explain important ideas and will help you build your understanding of how the data science process works, whichever approach you end up using. We also made sure to include a section on Python and R for those looking to develop their coding skills.

I had some trouble making the jump from learning the general concepts and some specific methods to practical application... picking from the multitude of methods available.  My inner engineer needed to put a framework to all this learning/knowledge.  That's what lead to building this Method Map.

Post about using the Method Map:
