Hi, Alteryxians! Please join us for our upcoming virtual user group meeting, which will be Thursday, December 9th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. CST!
This month’s meeting will feature a special guest speaker: Margarita Wilshire, Senior Manager, Customer Support at Alteryx! Margarita returns to our user group stage to present her ever popular Tips and Tricks session from the Inspire Conference! This session features numerous techniques and little-known methods of navigating, utilizing, and processing Alteryx, all while enhancing your user experience and often saving time!
Following the Tips and Tricks session, we are showcasing a Holiday theme for this time of year, and will host presenters from the 2020 Santalytics competition! Last year, the Alteryx Community hosted a competition to build Holiday-centered Alteryx Analytic Apps, using packaged datasets available to all Community members. We will have some of the developers explore the apps they created, and answer questions on the build process, app logic, and various Interface Tools used.
A Q&A session will follow each presentation.
With the new Community Events experience, registered group members can sign-up to attend a meeting with a click of a button! If you have not already joined the Dallas Ft. Worth User Group, please join the User Group as a first step. You will then be able to register to this Event by clicking "Yes" on the top right corner (refresh this page, after you join the group)

Hi, Dallas / Fort Worth Alteryx User Group Members! Please join us for our upcoming virtual user group meeting, which will be Friday, February 25th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.!
This month we kickoff our 2022 User Group Meetings, and we are excited to bring you special guest speakers, product updates, use cases by our users, how-to sessions, and much more throughout the year!
To start the year off, we are featuring Chris Lewis, Alteryx ACE and Austin user group leader! Chris is the Senior Director of Business Intelligence at JLL and has a deep expertise in Analytic Apps. He has written an insightful and entertaining blog that showcases the many capabilities of Apps, and will present an introduction to Analytic Apps, using a dataset and a live quick build of an example App. If you have ever wondered what the Interface tools are for (they can be used for macros too), this session is for you! Please see Chris’ excellent blog at Alteryx Analytic Apps Introduction and Deep Dive S... - Alteryx Community
Following Chris’ presentation, we will host a Q&A session, along with Community Updates for the new year.
Our second guest speaker will be Charlie Squyers, Alteryx ACE and Lead Analytics Developer at Buxton! Charlie will present a cool and useful topic called, “Error messaged are data, data is good”. He has provided a great description of the session:
"Everyone using Alteryx Designer will inevitably encounter errors at one time or another. Error messages give us data, and that data is useful! This session will talk all about error messages, how to use them when you want them, and defensive design for when you don't." Come hear Charlie discuss error message handling in Alteryx and expand your knowledge about this advanced and often overlooked concept.

We have an exciting guest speaker lined up for this month’s meeting: Loy Engelhardt from Trifacta will be presenting a demo of the platform! This will be an extended presentation, with the opportunity to ask questions directly to Trifacta!
For more information about Trifacta and Alteryx, please visit Trifacta | Alteryx
We will also provide an overview of the annual Alteryx Inspire conference: This year, the event is a hybrid of an in-person conference in Denver, Colorado from May 16 – 19, and a virtual conference. In my opinion, this is one of the best data analytics conferences out there, with extensive training and numerous sessions such as keynotes, use cases, product announcements and presentations, and much more, including outstanding networking with fellow Alteryxians! You can view the lineup of speakers and agenda for Inspire at this link: The Line Up Agenda | Alteryx

Hi, Dallas/Fort Worth Alteryx User Group members! Join us for our upcoming September virtual meeting on Friday, September 27th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Central time! We will have two presentations: One on a fascinating spatial analytics process to develop a puzzle, and the other on building Analytic Apps using the Interface toolset.
Alteryx ACE David Pansegrouw, Dublin, Ireland user group leader, will present a very cool workflow that utilizes advanced spatial processing to generate a puzzle template. He presented this topic at the Inspire conference this year, and wowed audiences with the intricate details and the application of spatial concepts. As an ACE, David can also answer questions regarding various other advanced aspects of Alteryx, so feel free to bring additional ideas to discuss!
Next, I will present how to build Analytic Apps, starting with basic workflows, and using the Interface toolset to convert the workflow to an app that allows you or an end user to enter criteria and obtain results on an ad hoc basis. Analytic Apps are highly beneficial in those scenarios where multiple users are requesting different subsets of data (for example, one user requires Q1 data and another wants Q4 data from the same dataset). Apps are also useful when you receive numerous ad hoc requests for results based on the same data source, such as entering an address and receiving a report for the surrounding area, then entering a different address, generating a new report, and so on. Analytic Apps are often used with Alteryx Server, but you can also share them with other Designer Desktop users (or make them for yourself and gain some time savings!).
Please click "Register" at the top right to RSVP; a Zoom meeting link will be provided to you upon registration. Join us for an afternoon of learning, Q&A sessions, and getting to know other Alteryx users! We look forward to seeing you there!

Hi, DFW Maveryx, and Happy New Year! Save the date for our January DFW Alteryx User Group Virtual Meeting, which will be held on Friday, January 31st, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. CT! We have some great topics to start the new year, and we begin with an awesome guest speaker: Scott Jones, Principal Analytics Consultant at DCG!
For those who have been using Alteryx for a while, you may remember Scott Jones as the amazing Grand Prix Emcee! Scott hosted the Grand Prix at the Alteryx Inspire conference for years, and his impressive voice announced the play-by-play events with energy and enthusiasm! Those of you who have been using Alteryx for a LONG time may also remember Scott Jones as an expert solutions engineer (SE) at Alteryx - in fact, I met him in 2011 when he was supporting the retail company where I managed Alteryx internally!
Scott will be presenting Auto Insights and the new Magic Reports, and he has provided this overview:
Getting to Know Auto Insights
Learn about the newest offering from Alteryx that allows you to quickly analyze data, create reports, and share findings in a SaaS environment. We will discuss best practices for loading data, how to create data examples automatically, and use machine learning algorithms to find the most interesting facts about your data. Then use Magic Reports to create and edit projects for PPT or email with AI generated explainability in any tone for different audiences.
For more information about DCG and the many Alteryx and other platform services it offers, please visit Business Management Consulting Firm | DeMar Consulting Group
Next, I will present how to utilize the Spatial toolset in Alteryx with your own spatial data - or publicly available online data! It is a common thought that the Spatial toolset can only be used with the add-on data bundles in Alteryx, for an additional cost. However, if you have datasets with latitude and longitude data, or a shapefile (.shp), or a similar spatial data format such as MapInfo .tab or Google Earth .kml files, you can perform spatial analytics with them in Alteryx, with no add-ons required!
I will show techniques for spatial analytics in the following topics:
How to convert latitude/longitude fields into points
How to input polygon shapefiles from the U.S. Census
Find the spatial relationships between spatial objects, such as points within polygons
How to use tools that are not in the Spatial toolset for spatial analyses (yes, there are some hidden options!)
How to convert GeoJSON data into a spatial object - and back again
Tips and tricks for using spatial data within a workflow
Join us for an engaging user group meeting, and expand your knowledge about the many benefits of Alteryx within the Cloud and the spatial dimension!
To RSVP, please click the "Register" link at the top right of this page; a Zoom meeting link will be sent to you upon registration.
Please also feel free to invite others who are simply interested in Alteryx. Thank you all for your support of our over 900-member user group, and we look forward to seeing you at the meeting and celebrating the new year!
