Hi, Maveryx!  Save the date for the upcoming in-person user group meeting, which will be Friday, March 22nd, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.!  With the weather becoming more like Spring, let's celebrate with an in-person event!  (Punxsutawney Phil, the groundhog, predicted an early Spring and it is true for Texas!)  😀

Final details regarding guest speakers, location, parking, and more will be announced soon.  If you are interested in presenting, please reply to this post, or feel free to message me directly on the Community using @Deanna ; you can also email me at deanna.sanchez@novageographica.com as well.

To RSVP, please click "Register" at the top right of the Events page at this link:  DFW Alteryx User Group March In-Person Meeting, Fr... - Alteryx Community  and we would like to have an approximate count of attendees to send to our host in advance of the meeting.

Please join us for an opportunity to learn more about Alteryx, expand your skills, and network with other Alteryx users!  Our user group is one of the best ways to share ideas with fellow members, and discover how they are gaining fast insights using innovative processes and techniques.  We are looking forward to visiting with you on the 22nd; see you soon!

Hi, everyone!  Just a reminder to register for our upcoming in-person March meeting, which will be Friday, March 22nd, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.  This in-person meeting is generously hosted by The Commit Partnership, who was our 2017 - 2018 Alteryx For Good recipient!  Our user group had 22 volunteers who assisted the education-based nonprofit with creating solutions in Alteryx, enabling them to grow tremendously in their analytic and outreach efforts.

David Rardon, Analytics and Insights Director at Commit, was one of our volunteers back then, and is now helping the nonprofit to achieve numerous goals!  To learn more about The Commit Partnership, and all the innovative things they do for Dallas and beyond in the world of education, please visit:  The Commit Partnership

The Commit Partnership is located at:

3000 Pegasus Park Drive, Suite 900
Dallas, TX 75247

Pegasus Park hosts a beautiful historic building, with the iconic Pegasus symbol at the top!  I grew up admiring this building as a child, and it is a privilege to visit it and view some of the original architecture inside.  It has been renewed as a 26-acre campus hosting forward-thinking companies and organizations; to learn more about Pegasus Park, please visit Pegasus Park in Dallas, Texas .

A parking map is attached, highlighting the visitor parking area, which is free.  More information about guest speakers will be posted soon; thank you, and we look forward to seeing you there!

Hi, user group members!  Just a reminder to join us for our in-person meeting this Friday, March 22nd, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.!

Our guest speakers include a presentation by Kristen Davis of the Commit Partnership, featuring a Cohort Analysis of Student Level STARR Assessment Results.  Kristen will describe how they were able to utilize Alteryx to clean and compile large statewide public datasets in order to understand how an individual’s performance on the STAAR academic assessment changed over their years as a student.  She also uses Tableau for visualization of data output from Alteryx, and a Q&A will follow the presentation.

Next, Alteryx ACE Treyson Marks, Managing Partner at DCG Analytics, will return to DFW to continue the conversation on intermediate processes in Alteryx.  Treyson has been focusing on the new Alteryx Cloud products, and this is an excellent opportunity to ask him questions in person!  To learn more about DCG Analytics, please visit Business Management Consulting Firm | DeMar Consulting Group

In addition, we wanted to add that the meeting will be held in the Pegasus Park Conference Center room on the first floor, lobby level of the Main Tower.  The address is:

3000 Pegasus Park Drive
Dallas, TX 75247

Refreshments and appetizers are generously provided during the meeting by Commit, and we are grateful for their support of our user group!  Please feel free to join us after the meeting as well for networking next door at Community Beer (other beverage choices are available, including non-alcoholic ones).  Home | Community Beer Co.

To RSVP, please click "Register" at the top right of the Events page at this link:  DFW Alteryx User Group March In-Person Meeting, Fr... - Alteryx Community  , and we would like to have an approximate count of attendees to send to our host in advance of the meeting.  (Seating is limited to 70.)

Please feel free to send this invitation to your coworkers, and those who may be interested in learning more about Alteryx.  Thank you again, and we look forward to seeing you on Friday!

Hi, DFW Maveryx!  Thank you to all who attended the in-person meeting at The Commit Partnership, in the beautiful Pegasus Park building!  We appreciate each of you making the drive to Dallas, and special thanks to Commit for generously providing the excellent appetizers and buffet trays!  It was a pleasure to see each of you there, and many engaging conversations were started during each of the Q&A sessions.

Kristen Davis of the Commit Partnership featured a Cohort Analysis of Student Level STARR Assessment Results, and showcased how Alteryx was able to manage large amounts of data seamlessly.  The platform allows her to easily perform what-if scenarios, and Kristen presented fascinating results of how scores improved for students over time.  She also highlighted Commit's Tableau page, displaying dashboards powered by data preparation and analytics in Alteryx.  Discussions with the user group members included some ideas for future analyses, including ways to anonymize data for spatial analysis.

Alteryx ACE Treyson Marks, Managing Partner at DCG Analytics, featured an exciting comparison of Alteryx Designer Desktop and Alteryx Desktop Cloud.  He explained when to use each, as well as the benefits and features.  (Presentation attached.)  Lots of insightful questions were asked during the Q&A, and Treyson delivered expert answers, helping us to learn more about the new cloud products and best practices!

See the recording below. A quick couple of notes:  The microphone only picked up the presenter nearest the laptop, so the host and audience questions are muffled.  In addition, the second half of the video simply shows the hostname (the screen accidentally wasn't shared by the presenter).  However, the presentation slides attached can be followed along with the audio.  We apologize for the A/V and technical issues!

Thank you also to all who joined us after the meeting for a happy hour next door at Community Beer; we continued the conversations, which ranged from enterprise server administration, to spatial analytics throughout Dallas, to advanced data preparation.  It was enlightening to hear the different scenarios for each Alteryx user, and we hope to have more happy hours for our members in the future!
