Hi, fellow Alteryxians!  Save the date for our upcoming quarterly in-person meeting, which will be Friday, December 9th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.  We are able to reserve the Plano Alteryx Office conference room on the 2nd floor again (which is where our June in-person "reunion" meeting was held) and we are excited to be able to convene again in such a great location!

The address for the Plano Alteryx Office is:

7950 Legacy Drive

Plano, TX  75024

Please go to the main conference room on the 2nd floor; signs will be posted as well.  Free parking is available in the garage next to the building.

Speakers will be announced soon, and catering with refreshments will be provided; more details to follow.  Please RSVP on the DFW User Group Events page using the calendar link for December 9th at this location:  DFW December Alteryx User Group In-Person Meeting! - Alteryx Community

Also, be sure to bring your business cards and/or LinkedIn QR codes, since the networking at our meetings is excellent!

Thanks to each of you for your support of our almost 700-member user group, and we look forward to seeing you at the in-person meeting!

Hi, Alteryx User Group Members!  Just a reminder to join us for our December in-person DFW Alteryx User Group meeting this Friday, December 9th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. CT!  We are very grateful to the Alteryx Plano office for hosting us again in their 2nd floor conference room, and the address for the Alteryx Plano location is:

7950 Legacy Drive

Plano, TX  75024

Please go to the main conference room on the 2nd floor; signs will be posted as well.  Free parking is available in the garage next to the building.

We are privileged to welcome Alteryx ACE Mark Frisch (aka MarqueeCrew) as our special guest speaker for this meeting!  Mark is the founder and owner of Marquee Crew, and co-creator of the CReW Macros.  Chaos Reigns Within: Macros   For this session, Mark will feature "Taking Workflows to the Next Level".  With Mark being one of the most recognized and experienced ACEs, I am looking forward to this presentation and learning from one of the best!

I will also present a use case detailing how to utilize the Time Series Forecasting tools, which will feature the TS Compare tool to compare ARIMA and ETS models.  The output will also score the selected model and we can quickly analyze the results with the transparency of Alteryx!

In addition, if there is time, I will showcase a short segment on "Using the Spatial Toolset without the Location Insights Bundle".  It is a common misconception that users must have the add-on Location or Business/Consumer Insights data bundles in order to use the spatial toolset or perform spatial analytics.  Actually, you can use almost all of the spatial tools (green toolset) without these additional data bundles, as long as you have data with latitude and longitude fields, or data with spatial object fields!

For more information on the Location Insights and Business/Consumer Insights bundles, please visit Alteryx Location Insights, Data Packages, and Datasets | Alteryx .  I have been using these data bundles since they were first launched in the product many years ago, and am very familiar with the processes and variables included, so please feel free to reach out if you ever have questions regarding them!

Thanks to each of you again for all of your support of our Texas-sized DFW Alteryx User Group!  We look forward to seeing you in person on Friday!

P. S.  If a user group meeting is cancelled, it will be posted here in the DFW Alteryx User Group page first; please always feel free to reach out to me on the Community using @Deanna any time as well!

Hi, fellow Alteryxians!  Thank you to all who were able to join us for our in-person meeting on December 9th!  It was awesome to see so many of our members at the Alteryx Plano office conference room - all seats were full, and we even had to add chairs at the back of the room.  :)  We hope you enjoyed the catering by Main Street Bakery, along with snacks and desserts for our get-together during the Holiday season.

It was a privilege to have Alteryx ACE Mark Frisch, owner of Marquee Crew and co-creator of the CReW Macros, join us through a virtual meeting; his presentation on "Taking Your Workflow to the Next Level" was highly informative and sparked a lot of discussion on best practices.  An added bonus was seeing Mark's YouTube channel videos and learning more about his extensive Alteryx macro repository!  Please check out the CReW Macros when you have time; they are free for download at Chaos Reigns Within: Macros .

I also provided an overview of the Time Series Toolset, featuring a use case with 9 years' worth of visits to a location.  We explored the configuration for each tool in depth, plus examined the differences between ETS and ARIMA model settings.  I then used one of the trained models to predict the visits for the next 12 months into the future, all with the Time Series tools that are free for download with the Alteryx Designer Predictive Tools add-on.

We apologize that the presentations were not able to be recorded, since the A/V settings for the conference room didn't allow recording of the virtual or in-person meeting.  Thanks to everyone for their patience as the building staff figured out the A/V issues and helped get the virtual meeting with Mark launched.  The delays hopefully provided time for some excellent networking opportunities, which can be very beneficial through our user group!

Special thanks to Jennipher Vigil, longtime DFW user group member, for her assistance with check-in and coordinating the front desk sign-in area for this meeting; it is greatly appreciated!

We look forward to having each of you join us in 2023 for our next series of user group meetings - our January virtual meeting is scheduled for Friday, January 27th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., and we will feature presentations by Data Prep U!  More information will be posted soon, so please stay tuned.  We wish you all a very happy, prosperous and safe New Year!
