Hi, DFW Alteryx User Group members! We hope you can join us for our April meeting tomorrow, which will be in-person at East Texas A&M University at their Dallas location! We have some excellent guest speakers, and I wanted to provide an update on the various topics and not-to-be missed presentations:
Our first guest speakers will be our DFW Alteryx User Group co-leader David Rardon, Director of Analytics, and Jackie Romero, Manager of Data Analytics, both of The Commit Partnership. Economic Opportunity for Students - Commit Partnership David will feature a talk regarding "How Commit is Using Alteryx in Its Pursuit of Economic Opportunity for Students". With David's extensive GIS and spatial background, he will also showcase the work they perform on this topic using the Spatial toolset in Alteryx!
Jackie will present a new and highly beneficial resource The Commit Partnership has developed called "Best in Texas", which is a model and data set that allows them to control for some known demographic disparities in order to more fairly compare academic performance of School Districts and Campuses across the state. We are eager to see the innovative ways they are using the Alteryx platform to achieve so many insights that lead to improvements for Texas students and communities!
We are also glad to welcome back to the DFW Alteryx User Group stage Shukla Shanthakumara, Business System Analyst at NVIDIA, and graduate of the UT Dallas Master's program. You may remember Shukla's presentation for our user group last year on campus at UTD, where she described her amazing journey in data analytics, along with how her career skyrocketed by learning Alteryx! Shukla will present a cool topic called, "On-the-Fly Queries from HANA: To Fix Master Data for Models to Run and Give Desired Output". She has provided the following description:
"This topic explores the dynamic approach to managing changing master data on a weekly basis. It details the process of identifying alternate materials from another master data source in HANA, comparing them on-the-fly, and uploading the updated data back to Integrated Business Planning (IBP). The focus is on ensuring data accuracy and consistency while adapting to frequent changes in the master data."
It is a privilege to feature such a talented user group member again, and Shukla will showcase how her data analytics pathway is continuing to grow at NVIDIA; we look forward to the presentation and learning more about the dynamic process she developed!

@Deanna and the DFW Alteryx User Group Leadership Team
Hi, DFW Maveryx! Thank you to those who joined us for our in-person meeting in April at the beautiful East Texas A&M University Dallas campus in April! We are especially grateful to Dr. Sri Beldona, Chief Academic Officer at ETAMU, for hosting our user group meeting and enabling such excellent collaboration between the university, its students, and Alteryx!
Our meeting began with an informative presentation by DFW Alteryx User Group co-leader David Rardon, Director of Analytics, and Jackie Romero, Manager of Data Analytics at The Commit Partnership. David provided a comprehensive overview of The Commit Partnership, and the many ways they support education within the DFW area and statewide. Jackie presented their newest analytical initiative, "Best in Texas", which utilizes fresh new techniques for judging performance metrics of various schools throughout the state. A presentation by The Commit Partnership usually includes advanced Tableau visualizations generated by Alteryx data output, and this session was no exception! Thank you to Jackie and David for inspiring us with their new methods of analyzing student metrics, and for all you do to improve outcomes for students throughout the state!
Next, we were privileged to feature Shukla Shanthakumara, Business System Analyst at NVIDIA, and longtime user group member! Shukla provided an engaging presentation of "On-the-Fly Queries from HANA: To Fix Master Data for Models to Run and Give Desired Output". Showcasing how to manage changing master data on a weekly basis, Shukla featured ways to identify alternate materials from a separate data source, compare them on the fly, then upload the updated data back to the main Integrated Business Planning (IBP). Her workflows have saved her approximately 3 hours a week, and she has been able to schedule jobs at different times, automating the process with no need to check files manually.
Shukla, we appreciate you being our guest presenter and sharing your Alteryx journey with us, from first utilizing the platform at the University of Texas at Dallas, to incorporating it throughout many of your processes at NVIDIA. We look forward to seeing what you create next!
Thank you again to all who were able to join in person as well as virtually for our hybrid meeting, and we hope to see you at the next one!
