Connecting Around the Globe

Over the last decade, our Community has grown to more than 760,000 members, with over 132,000 joining in the past year. We’re proud to count 90 ACEs among our members, whose expertise and generosity elevate the entire Community. The original ACE class, including Catherine Desesa, Joe Lipski, Chris Love, Joe Mako, and Cameron Steele, inspired us all.

Our 36 active User Groups create both local and global opportunities for connection, and we have over 12,000 members across these groups! We’re thrilled to be piloting a new group in New Delhi, India, which will officially launch in Q4. We also launched the Community Live program this year, bringing expert-led interactive sessions to members wherever they are—you can check the calendar here for upcoming events.

The sense of connection is further amplified through our podcast, where members share stories of collaboration, career growth, and the personal impact of being part of this Community. Listen now to this special episode to hear inspiring stories:

Learning, Growing, and Sharing Knowledge

Learning has always been central to what we do on Community. Let’s review some highlights from the last decade!

Since the certification program began, members have earned over 350,000 total certifications. Here's the breakdown:

Shoutout to our active members who completed the first Alteryx certification ever available on day 1: @jdunkerley79, @MarqueeCrew, @Kenda, @Aguisande, @rohan_tibarewala, and @patrick_digan.

When it comes to challenges and quests, our members are competitive—in total, over 19,400 badges have been awarded for Weekly Challenges, and another 240 for Cloud Quests.

In the Engine Works blog, the most-read article of the past year was A Beginner’s Guide to Prompting in Alteryx Copilot by @spencerhong. Longtime favorites continue to draw readers, including DateTime Functions Cheat Sheet by @Sebastiaandb, Building a Workflow in 5 Minutes by @zach_alexander, and Control Containers: Take Control of Your Workflow by @RithiS.

On our Alter Everything podcast, the top recent episode was 179: Zero to Advanced Certified in 23 Days featuring @martinson, while the all-time most loved episode remains 88: How to Transition from Spreadsheets to a Full Analytics Program featuring @estherb47.

Finally, our SparkED program has distributed over 278,000 licenses to educators and learners since 2020, reaching over 1,000 schools worldwide and preparing the next generation of Alteryx developers.

Engaging, Competing, and Solving Challenges

Many members who joined on day one are still actively participating, a testament to the deep connections forged here (and their love of Alteryx)! Our highest-ranked, still engaged, original members include: @cmcclellan, @KaiLarsen, @paul_houghton, @David-Carnes, @patrick_digan, @mceleavey, @andrewdatakim, @alex, @MarqueeCrew, @patrick_mcauliffe, and @john_miller9. 🎉

Our Community continues to show up for our online and in-person events! For example, 116 members participated in the latest Advent of Code, and 1,245 community members received badges for their Inspire attendance. The energy at Inspire was incredible this year, and the Community made its mark with a brand new event—the Inspire Pin Contest brought in seven creative design submissions, received 168 votes from the Community, and crowned @caltang as the winner!

How active are our Community forums? Well, since our last birthday, members have started 14,846 discussions, provided 2,490 marked solutions, and given 17,709 kudos in recognition of each other’s contributions.

Celebrating in Style, with Confetti Fireworks

You may have noticed that our Community team wanted to celebrate even more… that’s why you’ll see confetti bursts on every board level page across our site for the month of September!

@MeganBowers this post is absolutely awesome & thanks so much for everything that you and the team do to create such a cool space 👏.

How has the Alteryx Community impacted you:
I grew my Alteryx skills through the Alteryx community. Whenever I had doubts or questions, there was somebody to answer. Whenever I sought competition, there were individuals at the ready trying to compete for those sought-after solutions 😈. The lessons, certifications, and weekly challenges really helped me hone my craft and I'm thankful that they were available and up-to-date with the latest and greatest.

Here's to another 10 years 🙂🥳🙌🍾

Wow, I've been on the community for ten years. I think I had black hair when I started.

The community has been so important for developing Alteryx as a global platform because without it the reach would have been far more limited. When I started on here there were a few hundred of us huddled away in darkened rooms trying to stumble through, but I remember reaching out to some of those early pioneers and getting a lot of support from them, the likes of @Joe_Lipski , @MarqueeCrew , @Aguisande et al.

Obviously, I won't be around in another ten years as someone will no doubt have done something about it, but cheers to a hugely successful first ten years!

Chris.

The community is the first place I went to when I started my Alteryx journey. I will never forget seeing all the amazing content available for free - and anyone could contribute to it.

When I conquered my fear (strange now I look back at it) of sharing online, I just went dived head in and solved a problem. Then I began interacting more with the community and jumped at every opportunity I got to engage both online and offline.

I was just sharing the other day to my friends that it was because of Alteryx and the Alteryx Community, my life changed. I went from a shy person to a literal superhero. Knowing and using Alteryx is a superpower, and the community is the hub of supes.

A very happy 10th birthday to this wonderful space. I will contribute for as long as I can.

It really did change my life. And I hope my help has made the lives of community members better.

Thank you for the fantastic opportunity to be on the podcast @MeganBowers!

I must say I'm surprised and grateful to see how well it has done.

I'm a more recent addition to Alteryx, but 10 years of combined knowledge on this community is what has allowed me to develop my skills and gain a much deeper appreciation for Alteryx at the pace I have.

I'm completely in love with the Weekly Challenges and any other practical puzzle in Alteryx. Special shout-out to the Advent of Code, and @Pilsner's new Euleryx!

Here's to another 10 fantastic years!

10 years and counting! This was an amazing post, thank you @MeganBowers

My journey with Alteryx began just over two years ago, but I wish it had been sooner. The community itself has played a huge part in shaping my career, in more ways than one.

Firstly, like many students, during my studies, the thought of progressing into the "Real World" was unnerving. It was during a summer internship that the Alteryx community was introduced to me, and something just clicked. The people, the badges and the gamification all drew me in and undoubtedly helped persuade me to pursue a career in data.

Secondly, without echoing @caltang's words too much, the supportive nature of the community has also been impactful for me. Starting with a fear of posting online, younger me would never have expected to have the confidence I have today, and for that, I have to say thank you.

Happy Birthday Community - Here's to another 10 years! 🥂🎉

10 years of an amazing resource.

The community allowed me to learn and grow my skills to the point I am now comfortable giving back and sharing whenever I can. I definitely wouldn't be where I am if it wasn't for this resource and I'm very thankful for it. Can't wait to keep being involved and seeing what the next 10 years has planned for us all.

The community has been an immensely powerful resource for me in my career. I've spent 7 years on the community and would consider myself active in it for over half of that timespan.

Starting out with Alteryx and data work in general, it was an amazing resource to find answers to my questions, learn alternative ways to approach challenges, and learn about the product in general.

Getting active on the community back in 2021 helped to push my knowledge further and build my own personal brand. Answering other people's questions helped me learn more myself as well as connect with other Alteryx users around the world, notably @DataNath @caltang @Qiu amongst others.

I really can't think of another software that I use that has such a robust and active community to tap into. Happy 10 years!

Lovely post @MeganBowers ! So many memories!

I remember that room in Boston where the first ever certification exam took place!

I'd also like to send a shout-out to the 2015 ACEs cohort, who are also celebrating our tenth "ACE-versary":

Wow, where has the time gone?  Thanks @Aguisande for the shout out - it never hit me that this is our 10-year ACE-versary!  When the Community first launched, I was fearful that it would turn into a Stack Overflow type Community, where people got pounced for asking "stupid" questions, because I believe there are NO stupid questions.  Whatever you're going to ask - I guarantee someone else has the same question but is afraid to ask - so ask away, no matter what it is!

I am so happy to see that not only were my fears never realized, but the EXACT OPPOSITE was!  This Community is so open, caring, and helpful of others and their journey with Alteryx, of all levels.  From "I just downloaded it" to "I've been using it for years".

Congrats on 10 years, and I've no doubt there will be another 10!

I've loved being a part of this Community for so long! I've not only shared my knowledge but also have learned from so many others! Completing the weekly challenges helps to keep me sharp, and leading the Indianapolis User group helps me stay connected to other Alteryx users in my area. 🎂

The Alteryx Community has really changed the way that I interact with the platform.  I began my journey 4 (maybe 5?) years ago and was just using the platform to solve analytic problems.  Only until recently have I become more engaged in the community.  Honestly, It's amazing.  So many great minds, and amazing people all solving problems together.  The ability to contribute back and share with others is the most gratifying feeling and, in some ways, has reignited my passion for problem solving.  On the flip side, the community pushes you.  Whether it's participating in challenges or figuring out how to solve someone else's need, my skills have grown and I've gotten a lot faster.

Thank you to this wonderful community and I look forward to continued involvement wherever I can!  Happy 10 Years and here's to many more!

Happy Birthday Alteryx Community!  I would not be where I am today without you!  When I got started with Alteryx I was the one at my former company onboarding it into the ecosystem, so there was no one around to teach me about what I was getting myself into... EXCEPT for this COMMUNITY, whether online or in person when we all get to hang out and nerd out together at Inspire.  My ACE Spotlight article does a good job of summing up a lot of my journey, so I won't rehash it here, other than to add that since then I have also been able to launch not one, but two of my own businesses (analytics consulting & martech solutions), leaning very heavily on everything that I learned how to do with Alteryx.  So THANK YOU, Alteryx Community! Here's to the next 10 years! 🎉

Happy birthday Alteryx Copmmunity!!

I have used Alteryx for the last 4 to 5 years but have only been super active this year. I was able to do that because the content and wisdom that is already on the site is so vast, I could find the answers I needed without having to post anything. It is a wonderful place to collaborate, help others, and learn more about the tool. My Alteryx knowledge would not be where it is today without the community and it's members.

Thank you to the Alteryx Community for the past 10 years!!!!

Happy 10 Year Birthday, Alteryx Community and a huge shout out to @MeganBowers and the rest of the Alteryx Community team for doing such a fantastic job!

When I first began using Alteryx nearly 6 years ago, one of the best perks of being an Alteryx user was the robust Alteryx Community.  So many incredible resources and the Community and its members are so active and vibrant.  One of the things that impressed me was the kindness and consideration Community members exhibited when answering other people's questions.  I have seen in other public forums where sometimes disparaging comments might be directed at members because of the types of questions they would ask (for asking "silly questions" but I never seen any of that type of behavior here in the Alteryx Community.  Everyone here is so incredibly friendly, helpful and respectful.

There is no doubt in my mind that I am a better Alteryx user because of the Alteryx Community, its members and its fantastic resources.  I really love how Community members are so willing to share their Alteryx knowledge with others and I think it is the engagement of the members of the Alteryx Community that separates this Community from others.  And of course, it goes without saying that I was motivated and inspired to become an Alteryx ACE because of this wonderful community.  When I speak to prospective clients about purchasing Alteryx, I always reference the Alteryx Community as one of the selling points and the advantages of being an Alteryx user.

Happy Birthday Alteryx Community and here is to many more.  Keep up the amazing work!!

The Alteryx community has helped me figure out issues that made me feel like I was banging my head against the wall trying to fix. There always seems to be a random forum post somewhere that just happens to have guidance for whatever problem I'm having. If not, people respond so quickly here. It's wonderful!

Happy to be a part of the 10-year podcast episode, and loving the confetti!

How has the Alteryx Community impacted you: It has impacted me immensely, but it all started with my first ever question back in 2018 when I asked about decimal to percentage and got a response from @jamielaird - from there...

  • I used it to learn Alteryx through the interactive lessons
  • I used it to get certified, from Core to Advanced to Expert
  • I used it to practice my skills through weekly challenges & cloud quests, and eventually go on stage for the Grand Prix twice
  • I used it to gain Ace status through tool mastery edits, discussion post answers, etc.

It has made such an impact on my life and many others, so thank you and congrats on 10 years!

Happy 10 Year Anniversary to the Alteryx Community! I love the confetti!

How has the Alteryx Community impacted me?
During my time as a Product Manager at Alteryx for almost 6 and a half years, I have benefitted from Community in so many ways!

  • I love to search the Discussions, Ideas and other forums for user feedback, issues and shared knowledge. It is a great resource to add another data point to help us make data-informed decisions.
  • I have used the Interactive Lessons a ton over the years - they were useful when I was onboarding and studying for the Core Certification or just to learn more about a product I am less familiar with or new capabilities and products.
  • I enjoy doing Weekly Challenges and Cloud Quests and seeing how many different paths there are to get to the same solution! I usually learn something that I didn't know before.
  • I have had so many opportunities to interact with our users and customers, taking in great ideas for product improvements or helping provide solutions to issues.
  • One of my favorite things to see in Community is how helpful our users are to each other - being so willing to jump in and provide assistance, tips or guidance on how to do something or even simplify some potentially complicated solutions.
  • I even participated in Advent of Code for the first time! I was surprised how far I was able to get (not very far, but had fun trying).

Seven years on the Community for me this month I think.  I have learned so much from the Academy, Weekly Challenges and the Indianapolis User Group.  That knowledge gave me the confidence to pass the advanced certification and to become one of the Indianapolis User Group Leaders (thanks @Kenda and @patrick_digan for welcoming me into the group and keeping it going for all of these years).  Looking forward to the next seven years!

Happy 10th anniversary to the Alteryx Community!

Alteryx has transformed the way I look at data - Big or Small and Helped me scale up lot of complex problems with ease.

As a GIS SME, I found solving Spatial problems in conjunction with Alteryx has been a game changer.

Still lot to learn but also happy with where I m now compared to 7 years before. I'm very happy and grateful to Alteryx community which helped me with a lot of topics while this learning pathway.

Looking forward to the next 10 years and more. Cheers to everyone involved and Kudo to everyone actively contributing.

Wow!  10 years is wonderful!

The community has helped me learn how to use the software, see different/better ways to accomplish tasks, find answers and be able to ask questions when necessary.

The Weekly Challenges are a great way to participate and see how close your solution is to others.  Sometimes, my solutions are way off.

Happy 10 Year Anniversary to the Alteryx Community!

I first heard about Alteryx three years ago, and it has truly changed my life. As a Data Engineer, I’ve worked with different programming languages, but Alteryx makes processes, data integration, and even creating simple interfaces easier than anything else. On top of that, the performance is excellent.

Alteryx has simplified my work.  I love how it keeps me organized and allows me to test many what-if scenarios.  The community offers the perfect arena to connect with other professionals who offer amazing learning opportunities and valuable insights.   I've just moved to a new company that did not have Alteryx, I'm slowly introducing the product and think I've attracted some new fans.  This tool was a game changer for me.

10 years?! Where has the time gone! The biggest impact is the relationships! Instead of listing the HUNDREDS of folks that I've had the chance to connect with through community, I'd like to call out three (apoligies to the rest!) in particular who had a big impact on my alteryx/life/work journey all because of the community:

@MarqueeCrew who is one of a kind\Mr. Alteryx

@AdamR who took the time back in 2016 to answer my random question in great depth and had no idea how powerful that one response could be.

@jdunkerley79 who built the incredible alteryx abacus and was always willing to listen/answer my random musings.

Excited for the next 10 years!

I've been an Alteryx user for seven years, and the Alteryx community has been so helpful with my journey! I know I can search or reach out for help with any kind of question, and I've used the weekly challenges to brush up on my skills. I know I wouldn't have been able to get my certifications without the community so thank you for everything! 🌟

Alteryx has completely changed my career trajectory. Back in the before times, I was an accountant who loved using Excel to make our jobs easier. With Alteryx, I was able to build workflows to properly automate our processes and saved my team thousands of hours of work. Alteryx gives me an opportunity to find creative ways to solve problems without having to only rely on Excel (which I still love, don't get me wrong). Through my obsession with Alteryx, I became an ACE and met an absolutely amazing group of individuals and it's so cool to count them amongst my friends.

I'm excited to see where Alteryx goes from here!

I can honestly say Alteryx has changed the my entire career. I “fell into” data analytics and taught myself along the way, but I would never be where I am today without the guidance, resources, and encouragement of this Community. The discussions, shared solutions, and support from others (especially the amazing ACEs!) has been invaluable!

Here’s to 10 years! Cheers! 🍻

I have been working with Alteryx for over 4-5 years now, initially unaware of community I spent lot of time figuring out stuff myself, but that’s what made me value the community more once I found it out.
like it was a treasure chest with almost everything that you get stuck with. You will always find someone here who has expertise over a tool/logic which seemed impossible to understand. Thats what i love about it.

Finally after years of learning, I have started to give to community what knowledge i have accumulated and hoping that it helps someone as it did to me.

Happy 10 years to community!
