Important Update: Expert and Predictive Exam Changes Coming Soon!

Update August 2025: The downtime for the Expert and Predictive Exams has been extended until Q3 2026. We’ll continue to share updates in the Community and provide a timeline as soon as more details become available. Thank you for your patience! 

Dear Alteryx Community, 

As we continuously strive to improve and enhance our certification offerings, we want to inform you about an update to the certification program. Starting December 1st, we will be temporarily removing the Expert and Predictive Master Certification exams from availability. This decision comes as part of our commitment to ensuring that these certifications meet the highest standards and provide maximum value to all of you. 

Our goal is to bring back these advanced certifications with updated content that reflects the latest skills, tools, and best practices to excel in your field. More importantly, the updated exams will perform better, with enhanced grading, score feedback, and improved proctoring experience. Expect to see their return in the first half of 2025 with a new candidate experience and enriched material, designed to challenge and reward your expertise in new ways. 

We know that these exams are an important milestone for many of you, and we’re working diligently to minimize the downtime. If your Expert and/or Predictive Master certification(s) are due to expire in the next 6-9 months, please reach out to our team at certification@alteryx.com. Your expiration date will be extended as a courtesy for the inconvenience while these exams are unavailable. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as we make these improvements. In the meantime, don’t slack on your skills! When these exams return, we’ll be excited to have candidates assist as part of the testing and re-launch process! 

The other certification exams will continue to be available, so check them out if you haven’t already earned them all.

This Certification is exactly what I plan to learn for application to my current role. Thankfully found the Exam Learning Path online, Alteryx Community, and Tool Mastery which are all valuable resources. I hope this test comes back soon.Like Jess above, I am also planning to  be prepared incase the test is available at Inspire this year

Hello! We love knowing people are excited about the Expert and Predictive Master exams. Currently those two are offline and under construction, so they are not available this year for Inspire. The good news is that we are planning to make an announcement later this year, which will include a timeline and exciting updates! Stay tuned!

Hello! We are working hard behind the scenes to improve our certification exam portfolio and candidate experience. And we really do what to share updates when we can! Currently, the Expert exam is scheduled to be re-launched next year (2026) sometime between July and September. We know that's a long time to wait, especially since many Community members have already been waiting for months. We'll communicate more details as we have them and we greatly appreciate your patience.

Also please watch for a survey about the Expert exam, where you'll have a chance to provide feedback on the exam content and experience!

Hello @AlteryxCertification , would you kindly give everyone who was waiting to retake the certification a chance to freely extend the validity of their certification period? If you change the end date to 1 year into the future, then perhaps we can feel a bit of alleviation from this waiting time. And our certifications would maybe not become void. Thanks

Similar to @RWvanLeeuwen's point, given that these exams are not coming back till Q3 2026 for those of us who have passed these exams before they go offline, will it still be valid during this period? I.e can we still say we are predictive master/expert certified even if the 2 years have elapsed? And during this period, will it cover the previous exams (i.e advance)

Thank you for your feedback and questions! We are working on updating our policy around certification expirations and will update the Community when we have something to share. In the meantime, your certifications will expire on their current expiration dates, like all of our certifications.

Users are always welcome to renew their Core and Advanced exams where that is an option. We hope that our Expert- and Predictive-certified users will keep their Core and Advanced certifications current by passing the exams, rather than counting on renewing by passing a higher-level exam.
