September 25th | Q3 2025 | Wework Boston, MA
The Boston User Group kicked off Q3 with presentations from Byron of Capitalized Analytics and Zhain of DraftKings.
Byron overviewed the capabilities of GenAI tools within your Alteryx workflow. These tools are designed for seamless data cleaning, generation, and automation. Simply integrate LLMs such as OpenAI's GPT or Google's Gemini in any workflow and gain faster insights for smarter analytics.
LLM Override: Acts as the central connection point to your chosen LLM (large language model). Hook up connections to OpenAI (GPT) or Google (Gemini).
Precision Match: Got "Senior Mgr." spelled six ways? Or car brands like "Audie" vs. "Audi"? This tool intelligently standardizes messy inconsistent text values.
Prompt Tool: Summarize reviews, support tickets, or survey responses. This tool applies LLMs directly to your datasets. Write flexible prompts and connect to your preferred LLM.
Schema Fit: Eliminate manual field mapping or customer coding. This tool automatically aligns a source dataset with the structure of a target dataset.
Synthetic Data Input: Generate realistic, structured datasets using LLMs. Create datasets on demand by describing what you need.
Zahin traced his 7 year journey using Alteryx which all began from a tip at a holiday party. Since, he has integrated Alteryx within roles at companies such as T-Mobile, Lime, and DraftKings. In each role, Zahin demonstrated how Alteryx empowers non-tech practitioners to unlock analytic insights. Zahin overviewed the shift toward hires who collaborate with data engineers, shared interview tips, and shed light on analytics within Tax.
Here are some use cases Zahin has come across:
Sales/Use Tax Reporting: Automation lead to slashing outsourcer fees and audit visibility issues.
Depreciation Schedules: Scaled asset rule calculations beyond Excel.
Tax ID Validation: Batched process to automate manual checks.
OCR Invoice Reviews: Extracted fields from thousands of PDFs for accurate refund claims.
Thank you to all that joined and look forward to seeing you at the next one,
Boston UG

Our Q2 meetup featured insightful presentations from a data warehousing specialist and Joshua Burkhow, Chief Evangelist for Alteryx. Thank you to Mithali Manjunath and Joshua Burkhow for their engaging contributions to the Boston group, as well as to all attendees who participated both in person and virtually.
Mithali Manjunath, a graduate student at Northeastern University pursuing a Master of Science in Data Architecture and Management, recently earned her Alteryx Designer Core Certification! Her presentation focused on best practices for organizing and managing data for efficient analytics. She guided the group through an optimized data architecture framework, comprising of a staging layer, curated layer, and extract layer. Using the Alteryx platform, Mithali demonstrated how each workflow integrates into this architecture. Her presentation concluded with five key benefits including: clean and reliable data, flexibility and scalability, and end-to-end transparency.
