At the Alteryx Inspire event in Las Vegas, two user groups joined forces to organize an exciting hybrid event. The collaboration brought together passionate Alteryx users with insight and highlights from the event along with our keynote speaker Chris Williams.
Chris began by sharing his work with food banks, showcasing some amazing stuff! His company PAG (Precision Analytics Group), has collaborated with names such as Shift Bank, Houston Food Bank (the largest in the country), Oregon Food Bank, and Second Harvest. These food banks play a crucial role in helping people in need, and Chris talked about how they work together with an organization called United Way through an initiative called 211. United Way helps identify services based on individual needs, like finding food pantries for those suffering from hunger.
Chris then explained how he utilizes Alteryx, a powerful data analytics platform. As food banks often struggle with costs and rely heavily on grants for funding, streamlining operations and saving money becomes just as crucial as the services they provide in the community. Alteryx makes those tasks more efficient through insight and automation. Instead of spending countless hours on administrative tasks, food banks can focus on meaningful analysis and making a real impact. One of the key things Chris mentioned was the importance of data collaboration. Through their work with United Way, they helped create a national database for food pantries, which is pretty cool. But it's not just about having the data; it's about making sense of it. Chris highlighted how Alteryx helps them ingest and process various types of data, whether it's structured or unstructured. They even use some of Alteryx's more advanced tools to extract information from PDFs or handwritten documents. It's all about getting the right data and using it effectively.
Location intelligence is another area where Alteryx shines. Chris gave an example of how they used Alteryx to analyze the distances between food banks and their customers. They considered factors like travel time, demographic information, and even rush hour traffic. This analysis helped them identify areas where new food banks could be established to better serve the community. The ability to visualize this data with Alteryx's spatial tools and layer multiple measures using reporting tools was a game-changer.
But it's not just about the technology; it's about the impact. Chris emphasized that having tangible results is crucial for nonprofits to secure grants and funding. Through Alteryx's capabilities, they can create compelling reports, track trends, and showcase the effectiveness of their initiatives. It's all about telling a story that resonates with potential donors and stakeholders.
Listening to Chris's presentation was eye-opening. It showed how Alteryx can be used to solve real-world problems. It's not just about crunching numbers; it's about making a difference in people's lives.
Thanks again to our attendees, speaker, and highlight spokespeople! We have attached the slide deck. We will be re-convening in a couple of months to showcase our Q3 meetup, so stay tuned for updates on that :). If you are interested in presenting your work, how Alteryx has transformed your department or career, or just some cool things you've done, please reach out to your Alteryx co-leaders ( FIGBOS, JoyG, & JoshuaM).
