Over the past few months, I’ve heard countless times that 2020 is “the year that everyone wants to forget.” The unimaginable hardships we’ve faced and the drastic changes we’ve endured as a society will mark 2020 as one of the most—if not the most—challenging years in this lifetime. This year is a global test of change management and with any change, comes opportunity and a heightened need for compassionate leadership. We have an opportunity to innovate, to break new barriers, to rethink what’s possible, to make this year one worth remembering.
This year has certainly presented new opportunity for me. I recently began a humbling journey of my own when I was named CEO of Alteryx. After serving as a board member for two years and spending time with our key communities these first 30 days, it is clear to me that this company is doing something really special. Over the past 23 years, Dean Stoecker and the Alteryx team built a leading analytics company with a mission to unleash the thrill of solving, helping businesses and their people succeed in ways they never thought possible. Under Dean’s leadership, the company cultivated an unparalleled culture among associates, customers, partners and the larger analytics community with a passionate user base of problem solvers eager to tackle the world’s most pressing business and societal challenges. Dean’s innovative vision to create an enabling category for the convergence of people, process and data and his commitment to building a platform that anyone can use, regardless of title or experience, is why Alteryx was able to scale from one client and three employees to over 1,500 associates and 7,000 customers. Dean has impacted so many lives across the globe, and I am so grateful for his leadership and the opportunity to assume this important role.
As a team, we at Alteryx have not only a responsibility, but an obligation to continue innovating on the technology and resources that businesses now rely on. In these unprecedented times, the urgency of digital transformation is only heightened, and as shared on yesterday’s earnings call, remains our customers’ number one priority. Our talented and engaged associate base is critical to delivery. Getting to know the team these last few weeks, I am already inspired by each of your successes and dedication to pushing the Alteryx vision forward. It is of upmost importance to me that I maintain an environment—even in the remote world we are living in—where you are in the best position possible to succeed in your role. My previous successes leading and scaling enterprise companies like Palo Alto Networks and F5 Networks wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the teams I worked with. Without this amazing team that I now have the privilege of leading, Alteryx would not be the company it is today, and I look forward to continuing on this journey with you all as we embark on our next phase of growth.
With 2020 almost behind us and a new year on the horizon, the opportunity for Alteryx is significant. Companies across all industries—and each department within those organizations—have a growing need for self-service analytics with meaningful business outcomes that accelerate digital transformation. As a leader in analytic process automation (APA), Alteryx is uniquely positioned to scale globally and deliver high quality experiences to our customers, evolving to meet their rapidly changing needs. Organizations want more automation and reduced time to insights. We will continue to deliver on this, helping hospitals forecast bed availability, retail stores transition brick and mortar operations, airlines optimize staffing and compensation, and all of our customers succeed in today’s digital world. I’m excited to expand the Alteryx footprint by penetrating even more industries, making analytics more accessible and empowering our team members, customers and larger community to solve together as we venture into 2021 and beyond.
