I recently attended the Predictive Analytics Innovation Summit in Chicago.  The event brought together some brilliant minds from some of the top organizations in the world.  The speaker sessions ranged from Google’s use of analytics in their Digital Advertising, the NFL using analytics to retain Season Ticket Holders, to Dr Dan Putler of Alteryx, discussing Marketing Optimization.  Many speakers highlighted  how predictive analytics boosts ROI and optimizes businesses.  Interestingly, conversations for the “Predictive Analytics” summit revolved around Big Data.

 

Everyone we spoke to wanted to know how we were working with Big Data.

 

Predictive Analytics and Big Data go hand in hand. The amount of data being produced on a daily basis today is staggering.   Google alone records over 800 million visits and 4 billion video views on YouTube a day!  Getting value from the massive amounts of data is critical to all organizations.  There is no point in gathering or keeping this amount of data if you aren’t going to do anything with it.  Predictive Analytics provides organizations and analysts the power to extract previously hidden insights buried in Big Data, extracting the value from the Big Data to make the best forward thinking decisions.  

 

People were really excited to hear about how Alteryx Strategic Analytics could combine both Big Data and Predictive Analytics in a single workflow.  Many folks were already utilizing R - but having trouble connecting to their data or utilizing other tools for data management and data quality. These attendees in particular were thrilled about the possibility that Alteryx could eliminate many of the daily constraints they faced.

 

Overall I think the show was a big success for everyone involved, vendors and attendees.  The major take away that attendees got from this show: If you are not utilizing Predictive Analytics in your organization then you are already in trouble, you just don’t know it yet.
