We are excited to announce the launch of Standard Mode in Alteryx Designer Cloud!

This new mode brings the power and familiar flexibility of Designer Desktop to the cloud, making it easier than ever for Designer users to embrace the benefits of a cloud-native environment without compromising on the functionality they know and love.

Bringing the Best of Designer Desktop to the Cloud

Designer Cloud now offers two modes that users can choose from: Cloud Native Mode and Standard Mode

For users who have been accustomed to Designer Desktop's expansive toolkit, Standard Mode is a game-changer. It brings over a more familiar experience for users of Designer, including a robust selection of several additional tools covering a wider variety of Designer Prep and Blend use cases.

But Standard Mode isn’t just about more tools - it also features tool configurations that are more closely modeled on Designer, creating a more consistent experience, especially for Designer power users. And, in Standard Mode, users can work with their entire dataset by default rather than a sample.

This means you can now work with the same extensive toolset that you have come to rely on while benefiting from the convenience of a cloud-native solution.

Why Standard Mode is a Perfect Fit for Existing Designer Users

Standard Mode in Designer Cloud has been designed with existing Designer Desktop users in mind, offering a transition path for those who want to leverage the cloud without losing the capabilities they are accustomed to. Here are some key benefits:

  • Expanded Toolset: Standard Mode brings an array of advanced tools to the cloud, including Data Cleansing, Multi-Row Formula, Join, Summarize, and many others. This means you have all the power you need to prep, blend, and transform data—just like on Designer Desktop.
  • Server-Side Processing with Full Data Visibility: With the Alteryx Engine (AMP) running server-side, Standard Mode allows you to work with entire datasets during workflow design, providing full visibility and control—no sampling required. This is perfect for users who need to see the complete picture when building their workflows.

Need More Scalability?

Designer Cloud Standard Mode is optimized for smaller, relational datasets. But for those who are working with larger datasets, or require additional scalability, no need to worry. We will continue to support Designer Cloud Cloud Native mode for larger jobs, complete with pushdown processing, and our new LiveQuery enhancements.
