As part of this evolution, we’re also introducing the Alteryx Essentials Certificate, a new credential focused on foundational skills. What is the new Alteryx Academy?
The new Alteryx Academy is a unified learning and certification hub and the central home for all Alteryx customer education. It brings together digital learning content, instructor-led training, certificates, and—ultimately—the gateway to Alteryx certifications, all within a single, cohesive experience.
With modern navigation, refreshed design, targeted learning paths, and improved course and credential management, the Academy helps learners progress confidently from discovery to mastery, build and validate skills, and realize value from Alteryx faster.
Why are we launching a new platform?
The new platform supports a more scalable, flexible learning experience, aligns to Alteryx updates, and enables the introduction of premium learning options.
This evolution ensures customers can keep pace with Alteryx as it grows, while giving them faster access to relevant learning that supports real-world use cases, continuous skill development, and long-term success with the platform. In short, it will help our customers find faster time-to-value.
Certification Program Updates
Timeline of Changes
- January 20, 2026 – All Micro-credential exams retired & Alteryx Essentials Certificate exam available
- April 2026 – Some additional exams retired (more details will be available soon)
- Late 2026/Early 2027 – Alteryx Practitioner exam launches on the new certification platform
Note: Micro-credential exams retired include the Foundation, Machine Learning, and Auto Insights micro-credentials as well as the stackable Core micro-credential sequence.
Why are we updating the exam portfolio?
By modernizing our exams, we ensure certifications remain relevant, credible, and aligned to real-world skills, giving customers confidence that their credentials reflect proven expertise and deliver lasting professional value as the Alteryx platform evolves.
What replaces the retired micro-credentials?
To maintain a quick, low-barrier entry point for our community, we introduced a new certificate exam intended to validate foundational analytics and Alteryx One knowledge: Alteryx Essentials.
What is the Alteryx Essentials Certificate?
The Essentials Certificate is a free, entry-level exam hosted in the new Alteryx Academy. The certificate is intended to support fast learning and practical early success by focusing on fundamental analytics concepts, Designer basics, and introductory Alteryx One knowledge.
What content does the Essentials Certificate exam cover?
The Essentials Certificate includes the same concepts covered in the retired Foundation micro-credential and selected content from the Core micro-credentials (or Full Core) at an introductory level. You can refer to the Essentials exam blueprint for more detailed information about the content in the exam.
Can Cloud-only users with a Starter package take the Essentials Certificate exam?
Yes. The Essentials Certificate was designed to be accessible for all users, including those with a Starter package. The content is general enough for learners to complete the exam using Academy training materials and supporting documentation. Both the Desktop App and Cloud App are covered at a foundational level.
Will the Essentials exam completion status appear on Community or My Alteryx?
Neither. Because the Essentials Certificate is not classified as a full certification, completion status will only appear in your Academy profile. It will not be displayed on Community or within MyAlteryx.
Will a Credly digital badge be issued for our exams?
- Learners do not earn a Credly badge for the Essentials Certificate. Instead, learners receive a downloadable PDF certificate of completion.
- Learners will earn a Credly badge for certification exams, which includes the new Practitioner and the Advanced Practitioner certifications
Premium Learning Options
What are premium learning options?
Beginning in early 2026, all learners will have access to new premium, hands-on courses designed to deepen expertise and accelerate skill growth.
These enhanced paid offerings expand access in two ways: entitled customers will continue to enjoy exclusive premium options with new additions, and (for the first time) non-entitled customers and individual users will be able to purchase select premium courses and learning bundles.
Access, Navigation & Support
Where will learners access the new Academy?
Learners will access Alteryx Academy via the existing URL (academy.alteryx.com) and their standard authentication via MyAlteryx. If learners do not have a MyAlteryx account, they can create one for free. Alteryx Academy can also be accessed via the universal navigation found at the top of My Alteryx and Community.
Where should learners go for help?
The new Alteryx Academy includes updated help documents and a feedback portal.
