This release builds on the 7.0 platform we delivered in February where we helped Data Artisans drive an analytics revolution to do some truly unique things. We continue to push the analytics industry in new directions and open up new sources of value for customers. Big Data has to equate to Value . . . or What is the Point?
The 7.1 release includes two data connectors that continue our strategy of getting all of the new types of data available to decision makers, and then into the analytics that those decision makers rely upon. Integrating Big Data with some many other data sources is where big business value starts.
Specifically we are including in Alteryx Strategic Analytics 7.1:
- A connector for MongoDB: Our friends over at MongoDB deliver a scalable and high performance, open source NoSQL database that has seen truly incredible adoption. We're proud to help their users get all their data into analytic workflows and integrated with the right other sources (see what 10gen is saying).
- A full connector to Hadoop: A production version of our Hadoop connector that we announced for testing with 7.0, and is now supported for use with Cloudera and MapR Technologies deployments of Hadoop. Support for other versions to follow.
Our goal is to make Big Data valuable to the business decision maker, instead of an IT science project - Humanizing Big Data is the right way to make that a reality.
Making Predictive Analytics Accessible
A key component of our strategy to Humanize Big Data is to get the right data combined with the right analytics without the need for costly specialist help. In 7.1 we ramped up our predictive capabilities by adding 17 new predictive and statistical tools built using R. These tools are specifically designed to allow data artisans the ability to include predictive modeling in their analytic applications without being a stats expert.
A lot of BI vendors have recently announced support for R, but we believe that is not enough. By making predictive analytics more usable, we want every business decision maker to have access to it, not the limited audience it has today.
Adding Context and Value with Customer and Market Packaged Data
Alteryx has a long history of delivering packaged data to customers. Previously we made this available a la cart, but now we've decided to make a set of pre-packaged and prepared data available to every customer who owns or purchases our core edition of the Alteryx Strategic Analytics platform.
With 7.1 we will ship household, demographic, and segmentation data from Experian, spatial and location date from Tom Tom, organizational data (firmographics) from the world's leading business data supplier, as well as population data from the 2010 US Census. You can buy data from many vendors, but NO OTHER analytics platform automatically ships with this entire data set ready to use in analytic workflows and applications.
