Welcome to our inaugural Fall 2024 release blog, where we’re unveiling a series of new updates designed to help you connect to more data sources, enhance your workflow efficiency, streamline reporting using AI, and leverage the power of the cloud. Whether you’re managing complex datasets or looking to scale analytics within your organization, these new features will enable faster, smarter, and more flexible data-driven decision-making. Let’s dive into what’s new and how it can revolutionize the way you work with data.
The data ecosystem always seems to be expanding. Just when you think you’ve got all your data wrangled, another source or output system pops up! That’s why we’re rolling out several new connectors and Data Connection Manager (DCM) enhancements.
Following the 24.2 Designer and Server release, look for new connectors to Google Cloud Storage, SingleStore, and Qlik. Learn more about how you can take advantage of them here. In Server, you’ll find several enhancements that will ease your migration to Data Connection Manager (DCM): a DCM Gallery migration tool and the ability to migrate in-workflow connection aliases to DCM automatically. Learn more about both capabilities in this dedicated post.
You asked, and we’ve answered! Now you can keep even your most complex workflows tidy and clear with new customizations, including custom connection colors and multi-line container titles. Learn all about how you can create easily readable and sharable workflows, and accelerate your own workflow development with custom defaults, in this post about new Designer customizations.
We believe Designer is the ultimate easy-to-use analytics tool. And we want to ensure its accessible to everyone. So, we’ve included new keyboard shortcuts that reduce the need to mouse. If you’re a Designer power user, you know keyboard shortcuts can help accelerate your workflow development, too. Learn more about these cool new shortcuts by visiting the release notes.
It’s not just Designer users who get to accelerate their work with the 24.2 release. Server admins will also see helpful enhancements that make work faster and easier. You’ll discover the ability to bulk delete operations, search across workflows with more options, and easily find workflows to add to collections.

Efficiently managing your Alteryx install base is key to governing and responsibly scaling analytics across your organization. That’s why several new Enterprise Utilities will be available to make it easier than ever for IT and data management teams to maintain security and compliance while their Alteryx user base grows. These Utilities include the ability to easily move users across Studios in Server, monitor Server usage, keep users synced with Active Directory, and transfer assets like collections, schedules, and workflows across users. Learn more about how to take advantage of the helpful new Enterprise Utilities here.
Did you know Analytic Apps can be run on Analytics Cloud with Cloud Execution for Desktop? You can set your app variables and do everything else you’re used to with Analytics Apps, but this time in the cloud. Cloud Execution for Desktop is a great choice for running Analytic Apps, especially those that may take significant resources to run or may need to run for a longer time. When analytics and insights reach business teams and decision-makers, they often take the form of a report. Today, reporting environments are fractured. Requesting reports is easy, but authoring and sharing reports requires tedious manual effort across multiple platforms and heavy reliance on clunky legacy systems.
Magic Reports brings automation and AI assistance to your reporting environment to make reporting easier, faster, and more flexible - so you can spend less time building and customizing your reports, and more time sharing and accessing insights and information about your business.
Reports are a necessity for any business, so we’re empowering everyone to work with data and bring their ideas to life by combining the intelligence of AI assistance with the power of automated insights and the flexibility of an advanced editor. Get all the details on how to use Magic Reports to streamline your reporting processes and elevate your decision-making here.
In the fall release, we’re also announcing a large update to Designer Cloud – a new dual palette experience, which now includes Standard Mode.
Now in Designer Cloud, users can choose between Cloud Native Mode or the new Standard Mode. Standard Mode will include a more familiar experience for users of Designer, including a robust selection of new tools covering a wider variety of Designer Prep and Blend use cases and the ability to work with a full dataset while building workflows (with no need to sample). Cloud Native Mode is the Designer Cloud you already know and love, featuring a smaller set of tools with access to pushdown execution.
With this update, Designer users will be able to enjoy a broader range of familiar functionality when making a move to Alteryx’s cloud products.
For more information, you can read our full Standard Mode blog, or view the available Standard Mode Tools and compare Cloud Native Mode Versus Standard Mode in Designer Cloud.
As an enhancement to Cloud Native mode in Designer Cloud, we’re excited to introduce LiveQuery. This latest update to our cloud platform enhances our integration with cloud data warehouses, including Snowflake and Databricks.
LiveQuery makes it possible to work with your entire dataset in Cloud Native mode, without ever having to move any data out of your cloud data warehouse - not even a sample. With this capability, customers can benefit from greater data privacy, faster processing times, and reduced egress costs.
Get all the details on LiveQuery in our blog here.
