Today is the last day of the Qlik Customer Conference. The Alteryx team here in Orlando met a lot of great companies that are using Qlik® for data discovery, and are now interested in Alteryx for more data blending and more advanced analytics.

iPad GiveawayWe had come great conversations and handed out the Alteryx Visual Analytics Kit for QlikView® and Qlik® Sense. Alteryx also gave away iPads to a number of people at the show.

We also delivered a session with our joint Alteryx/Qlik customer KPMG. Thomas Haslam, Director of Innovation at KPMG, showed two use cases in the session. The first was an analysis of pharma company sales people, to determine whether or not they are in compliance with sales rules regarding informing doctors of alternate uses for prescription drugs. KPMG ends up assigning a risk score to each sales person based on a number of data sources including drug sales, matching prescriptions to diagnoses, and how many hours of training the rep has had. Then they are able to be more proactive with compliance regulations.

The other use case Thomas showed was using Alteryx and Qlik to predict the FIFA World Cup results as part of a contest. Their analysis was the winning contestant, predicting more correct outcomes than any other participant (including Nate Silver). They based it on the distance traveled to matches. They used over 14,000 historical FIFA games as a base data set. As Thomas put it, "With that many data points, there was no way you were going to code that up in R. This couldn't be done without Alteryx."

Lunch LabAlteryx also ran a lunch lab this week. Over 150 people joined us to build Alteryx workflows that output to QlikView and Qlik Sense, based on the Alteryx Visual Analytics Kit for QlikView and Qlik Sense. You can download the kit at http://www.alteryx.com/qlikkit.

SmashMouthWe all celebrated last night (Wednesday evening) at the conference with the Alteryx-sponsored Customer Appreciation Celebration featuring the band, SmashMouth. The mosh pit was full of attendees letting loose after a few days of deep immersion in data blending, analytics and data discovery conference sessions.

Don't forget to download the kit at http://www.alteryx.com/qlikkit and try it for yourself. Let us know how you are doing with it and what discoveries you are making. See you next year at #Qlik15!
