As a part of our continued enhancements to our latest release, Alteryx recently announced in-database capabilities for EXASOL, a high-performance in-memory analytic database specifically designed for analytics.

To share why it was important to partner with EXASOL on this offering, and how to connect the two platforms, I reached out to Eva Murray, Strategic Partner Manager with EXASOL, and Alex Patten, Product Manager with Alteryx, for more information. Below is a summary of what they shared.

The Need to Partner and Offer In-DB Functionality:

The days of data residing in the hands of a few are over. Why? The approach simply does not work in today's forward-thinking, collaborative environment.

It's time we move away from this outdated approach and into a space where data insights and ideas are welcomed from every part of the organization. Think about the many ways your business would benefit if you could tap into the collective knowledge of your people and harness it to gain insights, giving everyone in your organization an opportunity to help your business grow, develop, and excel in the market. Below are 5 ways EXASOL and Alteryx can support you in this endeavor:

1) Convincing results that speak for themselves…now

Time is our most precious commodity; let's not waste it by waiting for results. Use Alteryx to define what you're looking for, then let EXASOL crunch the numbers on all your data to give you the answer. Simple.

2) Easy to use, intuitive tools that let you do your best work, without having to worry about how

The combination of the graphical, drag and drop user interface from Alteryx and the behind the scenes processing power of EXASOL result in analytical data workflows that allow users to see results quickly, iterate on their analysis to arrive at insights faster, and inform others in their organization.

3) A supportive, global, online community where ideas flourish and knowledge sharing takes center stage

Users don't need to invest a significant amount of time in learning either intuitive platform. Instead, they simply start using the tools and quickly become proficient with the help of both the Alteryx and EXASOL communities, where they can gain new ideas, learn tips and tricks to optimize their analytical processes, and even re-use workflows other have already built.

4) Ultimate flexibility to visualize your data in the consumption tool of your choice

Alteryx and EXASOL are both agnostic when it comes to consumption or visualization tools, allowing you to further your analytics by making insights widely available across your organization, no matter what software you choose.

5) The opportunity to work closely with two tech leaders who genuinely care about your results

Not only do Alteryx and EXASOL work closely together to relentlessly optimize the integration of our platforms, but we also work closely with our community of customers and partners to improve our software to address your analytical needs. We greatly value the feedback our customers give us and seek an ongoing dialogue with you to support you in doing business better and faster.

How to Connect Alteryx and EXASOL:

Get started!

Harnessing the power of Alteryx and EXASOL together is as simple as configuring your EXASOL connection in Alteryx. You have the option of accessing EXASOL via the input tool or, with our latest release, via the In-DB tools.

In-DB

With our recent enhancements, Alteryx and EXASOL fully utilize the power of EXASOL processing by introducing In-DB integration. Alteryx empowers users to quickly and easily build out workflows using their tried and true drag and drop, in-line visualytics interface. Once the workflow is built, the query being built in the background is sent to EXASOL, which optimizes it and quickly processes it. No data transferred. Easy. Intuitive. FAST.

Input/Output

If pulling the data into Alteryx makes more sense, users also have the option of connecting to EXASOL via the standard Input and Output tools. With a configured EXASOL DSN, a user simply drops an Input or Output tool and points it to that DSN. This gives users access to the fast processing power of Alteryx along with all the tools and functionality that Alteryx has to offer — including reporting tools, spatial tools, and a full suite of predictive models.
