It is hard to believe we are in the second month of 2014 already, and it will soon be Gartner Magic Quadrant season for Alteryx and the Business Intelligence and Advanced Analytics market. I was reflecting over the past year on data blending and advanced analytics topics – taking a look at our top blogs from 2013 to see what really resonated with you, our audience. Surprisingly, or not surprisingly, the Gartner Magic Quadrant for BI and Analytics Platform-related blogs ranked number one and two last year.
Take a look at the top ten blogs from 2013, and we'll continue to keep relevant industry blogs coming in 2014.
- Gartner Magic Quadrant for BI and Analytics Platforms – February 2013
As many of you know, the 2013 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence and Analytic Platforms was recently published. Last year Alteryx, Inc. was included in this Magic Quadrant for the first time, which we believe validated the amazing value our customers deliver to their organization using our Strategic Analytics platform.
- Gartner Survey Analysis: Customers Rate BI & Analytics Vendors – August 2013
Earlier this year, Gartner published its Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence and Analytics Platforms. Now, Gartner has published the details of the customer feedback that contributed to the position of each vendor in that Magic Quadrant through their report "Survey Analysis: Customers Rate Their BI Platform Vendors, 2013". You can view this report as part of our latest newsletter, available here for download.
- Lessons learned from baseball analytics – May 2013
We're pleased to present a guest blog from Ari Kaplan, a pioneer in sports analytics who has worked with over half of all major league baseball organizations and many global sports media organizations. Ari spoke at our annual Strategic Analytics conference, Inspire, this past March and you can view his presentation here. In this blog Ari will share some of the lessons he's learned over 23 seasons and how they can be applied off the field to improve your organization's use of analytics.
- The Generational Shift to Big Data Analytics is Underway – May 2013
It is incredible to see what a difference one year has made in the Big Data Analytics market. This time last year, I was trying to convey that Big Data had to become more than just Hadoop infrastructure investments or wrangling your own data scientist. There wasn't much chatter (or tweeting) when Alteryx said that analysis and outcomes mattered more than the size of your Hadoop cluster.
- Analytics Unchained: Free Yourself From the Shackles of SAS – August 2013
Today Alteryx launches our "Analytics Unchained" initiative, an effort to help organizations remove the shackles of legacy analytics software from SAS Institute – and by shackles we mean an expensive array of different software products that are hard to integrate, overly complex to use, proprietary and slow. This is an effort to educate customers on their alternatives, which include Alteryx Strategic Analytics, especially as they consider how to enable more analysts and users in their organization with fast, easy and affordable analytics and evaluate the best fit for their next major analytics project.
- Remove the Complexity in your Analytics Software Cost – September 2013
In recent months Alteryx has introduced a couple of new products that bring the power of Strategic Analytics to a completely new set of business analysts. Alteryx for Visual Analytics enables these analysts to blend any data source, perform predictive analytics and deliver data natively to Tableau for only $2,495 per license per year. And, with our no cost Alteryx Project Edition, hundreds of thousands of business and data analysts in every line-of-business group can build, iterate and deploy an analytic workflow or application without the delays and budget restrictions of other solutions.
- Customer Analytics Blog Series: Part 1 – Introduction – August 2013
In this age of Big Data, there is more information than ever before about your customers and prospects. Consider the data your organization can harvest from every interaction a customer has with your business, including transaction details, loyalty card information, user device records, and customer surveys. There's also a tremendous amount of external demographic, firmographic, and segmentation data available from commercial sources such as Experian and Dun & Bradstreet. And now, there's the ever growing array of social media content that your customers generate on sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare, and Yelp.
- Sharing the Price of Analytics Software – August 2013
Having worked at some very large companies during my career, I have grown used to enormous price lists with multiple discount levels, bundles, and ways of licensing. I have always viewed this complexity as unnecessary friction in the process of buying and selling software. The other issue that always frustrated me was the lack of clarity on what a product actually sold for in the market. Public pricing information is not available for the majority of BI and analytics platforms, even though pretty much every cloud software company is completely transparent in what they charge.
- Big Data Predictive Analytics Vendors: Fit for Purpose for Big Data Analytics? – January 2013
Mike Gualtieri, an analyst at Forrester Research, has just published a report on Big Data and Predictive Analytics: The Forrester Wave: Big Data Predictive Solutions, Q12013. If you are Forrester subscriber you can access the report here. While it is good to continue to increase visibility on this topic, this report reinforces the core problem in Big Data analytics – specifically that Big Data analytics are the domain of the highly specialist Data Scientist, that unicorn-like role, that is most frequently attached to the topic of Big Data.
- Data Gets Its Day with Tableau 8 and Alteryx – March 2013
Alteryx has been the gold sponsor of the Tableau 8 'Data Gets Its Day' Roadshow. We wanted to take a few moments from the busy schedule (View the schedule here), recap some of the great conversations we have had so far, and to let you know that if you have been unable to attend, you can see the joint Alteryx/Tableau demonstration in this webinar on Wednesday.
We'll see you here each week for new content and news on the Big Data Analytics market.
