It’s no coincidence that a release as sweet as 2019.1 happened to coincide with a day focused on candy hearts and chocolate. Just like the 36 million heart shaped boxes of chocolate being given out around the world, we’re introducing Alteryx Analytics 2019.1 with a little something sweet for everyone!

The major highlights in this release for analysts and data scientists are multi-select caching, additional charting options, and new Python Tool capabilities. For our IT and admins, we’ve dramatically simplified the admin experience with easier navigation in Server and model deployment scaling in Promote. Without further ado…

Broader code-free capabilities

Multi-select caching

Time is always of the essence in any analysis and at Alteryx our mission is to help you get to insights, and therefore, decisions, faster than you ever thought possible. Last year, our community fell in love when we introduced caching (freeze your data up to any point in your workflow for massive run time improvements). While caching was a huge hit, we also heard from you that your workflows typically have multiple lines, which you needed to be able to cache at different points. Today, we’re happy to introduce multi-select caching, which gives you the option of caching across multiple points within a workflow and only running once.

We continue to amplify our powerful Visualytics that bring your insights to life and help you communicate every answer effectively. With 2019.1, you can effortlessly make every insight a work of art through Visualytics to tell the story of your data exactly how you want. Stacked column and bubble charts are now available as chart types to share your results in the pixel perfect way. Break out a layer in your chart with the push of a button, using the Split functionality and customize colors to share your complex results with ease. Oh, and we have answered your requests for customizable pie chart colors so you can have your pie and eat it too!

While we love our code-free features, we also know that custom code written specifically with your team’s goals in mind is a powerful thing. To facilitate the collaboration between data scientists and analysts, we continue to enhance our Python Tool with Jupyter Notebook integration introduced last year. Using the Python Tool, you can now analyze bigger data with support for data including more than 2,000 columns. For your specialized location intelligence, the Python Tool now supports spatial data. There is also a new Production mode of the Python tool that enables you to execute your code faster and easier than ever before so you can collaborate better with the analysts in your company.

Simplified admin experience

server collection.pngFor our fearless admins, the heroes who make every analytics journey possible, we’ve added additional no-frills tools to support your users, including easier metadata connections from Azure SQL and an SSL option in Alteryx Connect (no more modifying config scripts or manually executing commands). We’ve also added PAC proxy support in the Alteryx Designer Download Tool for easier navigation of firewalls. In Alteryx Server, we’ve modified the user tab so you can navigate through your users with ease and can also see details about Collections for greater insight into your organization's collaboration. Finally, for our Alteryx Promote admins, we’ve added the ability to deploy and manage 3+ nodes for easier model scaling.

We’re thrilled to introduce Alteryx Analytics 2019.1 and eager to hear what you think and how you bring each of these new additions into your Alteryx world.

For existing customers, you can experience 2019.1 for yourself simply by upgrading to our latest release. If you’d like additional detail on these great features, check out updated technical documentation. Finally, if you’d like to help shape our next release, we welcome to participate in our beta program

For those of you who are new to Alteryx and are still exploring the platform, we’d love for you to take our latest build for a test drive. You can download our free Alteryx Designer trial to start kicking the tires and see for yourself why hundreds of thousands of data scientists, analysts, and quants across the globe choose Alteryx.

Release note says "Stacked column and bubble charts are now available as chart types to share your results ", but i could not really see these options in Interactive chart tool in 2019.1 version.

Am I looking at some wrong place, can someone please direct me to it?

Hi, unless I have misunderstood the functionality of the Interactive Chart tool, there appears to be an error in the latest release. For a simple bar chart based on a single column of categorical data, it appears the tool is not grouping and aggregating the data properly by each category. Instead, it appears to accumulate the category totals together.

I have attached images of an example workflow, and result for the Interactive Chart and old Chart tool to illustrate the point.

The workflow element for the old Chart tool includes a summarised count column to feed the exact values to the old Chart tool. These steps I understood where no longer required with the new Interactive Chart tool.

Finally, this problem also impacts the Insight tool Layers and Drill-down features.

Thanks,

Nevermind, I thought I was running 2019.1 but still on 2018.4.  Apologies for the confusion.

Hi,

Is it just me or the 2019.1 version has been deleted?

When I'm on the download page, I can't access to the "New versions" part, it's greyed out (see below). I only can access to "Previous versions"...

My bad, I didn't notice the drop down menu to change accounts on the "Download & Licenses" page, actually didn't even know my profile has multiple accounts...

Thanks @KylorI
