Today, I had the great privilege of taking the stage at the most exciting and unconventional analytic event in the industry, Alteryx Inspire 2018. And once again, I was awed and humbled by the passion and creativity of our customers. It is this enthusiasm that energizes and fuels our product management and engineering teams to continuously push the boundaries of what’s technically possible in the development of the Alteryx platform. And, after many long days, late nights, and weekends working, we are proud to introduce the newest version of Alteryx Analytics 2018.2.

With such an emphasis on digital transformations across all organizations today, we know that there is a tremendous amount of pressure on analytics teams to not only help leaders make more informed decisions, but also help guide what an organization should do next regarding their digital innovation offering. And even though we’re in the early innings of the digital transformation era, the pressures from digital technology disruption are only set to accelerate and intensify.

It is for this reason we bring you Alteryx Analytics 2018.2. With Alteryx Analytics 2018.2, we are altering the way analysts collaborate, develop insights, and leverage data and analytic models to answer the big questions that matter, helping shift analytics from single, departmental projects to enterprise-wide initiatives.

image004.pngA key strategy for leaders focused on digital transformation will be reorganizing how teams are structured and work together. There is a new need for organizations to be fluid in nature, and not so ridged in design, and this is particularly true of analytics teams; unfortunately, 76% of leaders still have teams that are somewhat or entirely siloed, and not just across geographies, but between departments as well.*

In Alteryx Analytics 2018.2 we focused on delivering a platform that supports true global analytics convergence, bringing decentralized data, analytic assets, and global data workers together in a governed way. With Alteryx Analytics 2018.2 we are centralizing the discovery and governance of all data sources by extending the capabilities of Alteryx Connect to include new metadata loaders for Snowflake, MySQL, Microsoft Azure Data Lake Store, Qlik Sense and QlikView. We are also proud to introduce cross-regional analytic collaboration, sharing capabilities and interoperability with French, German, and new Japanese user interfaces for Alteryx Designer. And, for IT and data governance professionals we have eliminated user access and management overhead with enhanced SAML authorization for Alteryx Connect, and SAML Single Sign-On (SSO) Authority Support for Alteryx Server for a friction-free and secure user  experience.

Part of achieving a true digital transformation is about exploiting data in new ways. In 2018.2 we focused on helping every data worker unlock their most challenging data puzzles by changing how data assets are accessed, and how new data relationships are explored. New data connectors for Google Big Query, and new generic ODBC in-database connector along with a new Snowflake Bulk Loader, help maximize the value of your existing or emerging data infrastructure. Our new in-database analytic connector for Databricks on AWS makes the power of Apache Spark accessible to all analysts in a code-free way. While new and enhanced data connectors for GZIP files, SharePoint, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, and Microsoft OneDrive empower everyone to connect to, blend, and analyze data from non-traditional sources with traditional warehouse data. With Alteryx Analytics 2018.2 we continue to help analysts kick the issue of incompatible data sources into the past.

Analytic teams serve as the backbone to digital transformations, and we know that business demands to develop more and deeper insights faster is only picking up. In Alteryx Analytics 2018.2, we focused on increasing the analytic effectiveness across all data workers. For emerging analytic talent, we have introduced onboarding guidance, so new users can begin to develop analytic models within the first 5 minutes of using Alteryx Designer. In addition, we have enhanced and introduced several new Analytic Templates. With these templates analysts can enrich existing skillsets with pre-built analytic workflows and sample data, spanning from functional analytic tasks (data blending, spatial, predictive) to departmental (marketing, sales ops) to industry (financial services) specific tasks, and see how to tackle virtually any analytic use-case with Alteryx Designer.

For specialized analytic talent we have expanded our code-friendly capabilities to include a new Python SDK. Now, experienced analysts can leverage third-party Python packages and build on best practice frameworks to perform tasks ranging from text analysis, sentiment analysis, Machine Learning, and Natural Language Processing. In addition, we have made tracking and monitoring high-quality production models, even easier in Alteryx Promote. Now, users can attach custom values to a model and effortlessly track the statistical significance of deployed analytics models.

These are just a few of the many new features in Alteryx Analytics 2018.2, and it’s hard to do them justice in a mere blog post. I encourage you to see all of the new capabilities in Alteryx Analytic 2018.2 in action during our live webinar on July 10th.

We hope you are as excited about the new offerings in Alteryx Analytics 2018.2 as we are. For existing customers, you can experience the breadth of our new offering by upgrading to our latest release. We also welcome you to participate in the 2018.3 beta and help shape our next release.

For those exploring the Alteryx platform, take our latest build for a test drive with our free trial and see for yourself why thousands of analysts choose Alteryx to tackle their biggest analytic challenges.

The link to upgrading the latest release in this post takes you to downloads.alteryx.com which doesn't work anymore, if you're looking for the latest downloads head to http://licenses.alteryx.com and the link in the gallery.alteryx.com site isn't working for me at least on IE 11 (corporate browser lockdown)... it just sends me back to the gallery and says I'm logged out. Anyway thank you Sydney Firmin at Alteryx support for getting me to the right site.

Also if you are at Alteryx and happen to work on the web side of it here's the page that the Upgrade Now link back to the gallery site isn't working.  https://www.alteryx.com/resources/product-support/download-alteryx?src=sc113

Was the new E2 Engine released with 2018.2? If so, does it need to be turned on? If not, are there any official plans for its release?
