In my last blog, Five Things to Keep Top of Mind from Dreamforce 2014, one of the topics mentioned was related to customer analytics. More specifically, the idea that leveraging analytics to create stronger, longer lasting relationships with your customers is no longer a nice to have, it's a must have. Reason being, customers' expectations for a better experience continue to rise.

 

For Cineplex Inc., one of Canada's leading entertainment companies headquartered in Toronto, serving approximately 77 million guests annually demands a deep understanding of their customers in order to exceed expectations. Key to their success in customer analytics is a robust consumer loyalty program. Over the past six years, Katherine Goff, Head of Analytics for Cineplex Entertainment, has been focused on driving organizational change and emphasizing the importance of using data to make strategic business decisions. In managing a loyalty program consisting of six million members, Katherine and her team rely on Alteryx for data blending and analytics to derive timely insights for strategic decision making.

 

As she explains in this video from Inspire 2014, both predictive and basic analytics are used to better understand the needs of the movie goers frequenting their theaters. The analytical toolbox has evolved from consisting of SQL, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint, to now including Alteryx. As a result, the learning curve for her analysts has been reduced, readying them to produce business results faster than before. Additionally, there are managerial benefits she's received relative to monitoring and quality control.
