A guest blog from Anthony Deighton, Chief Technology Officer & Senior Vice President, Products at Qlik

At Qlik we strive for simplicity. We know that people who use our visual analytics solutions want to quickly and easily go from prepping data to rapidly creating and sharing visualizations to reveal insights and opportunities. It is in that quest for simplicity that we are excited for a new feature built for Qlik users through our partner Alteryx!

Alteryx already provides drag and drop data preparation, including the ability to write to the .qvx file format and launch QlikView or Qlik Sense. Alteryx just released their QVX Read Feature in Alteryx Analytics 10.0, making Qlik the first and only data visualization company that can round trip data files through Alteryx. Now you can seamlessly go back-and-forth between Alteryx and Qlik, thus reducing the time spent working with data so you can spend more time creating visualizations to derive impactful insights.

What can the QVX Read feature do for you?

  1. Eliminate having to re-format your .qvx data into an Alteryx-readable format. Spend it on more value-added activities rather than on manually formatting Qlik data into an Alteryx-readable format.
  2. Blend data directly from a .qvx file with other sources of data. Simply input your .qvx file into Alteryx to perform advanced data preparation with data from other sources.
  3. Iterate quickly on your analysis and visualization. Do you prep your data in Alteryx and then perform visualizations in Qlik only to find that the insights you derive create more questions? Now you don’t need to put your data back into Alteryx for more advanced analysis. The new .qvx read feature makes it easy to transition between Alteryx and Qlik because it allows you to work with the same single .qvx file in both products.
  4. Create multiple workflows instead of having one massive workflow. Create a workflow and save it as a .qvx file format, put it into Qlik to do some visualization, then take that same file and put it back into Alteryx to create a new workflow off the new dataset.

We like to keep it simple. And you like to save time. With the new .qvx read feature from Alteryx you can more rapidly and effortlessly work with data in Qlik.
