Alteryx Grand Prix Cup

For those who may be unfamiliar with Inspire, our Alteryx user conference, one of the token events has always been the Grand Prix. Historically, the Grand Prix has been a data analytics “racing competition” at Inspire, where contestants, also known as “drivers”, were armed with Alteryx Designer and their own wit to solve a series of typical data challenges faster than their competitors.

We are excited to announce that at Inspire 2017, the Grand Prix is being retuned to be more collaborative and team-oriented. It will have a whole new format, where instead of one driver, three drivers will join together to form one super racing team. During qualifications, each driver will showcase 1 of 3 skillsets aligned to the Designer product: Favorites Categories, Spatial, or Predictive. For the final lap, the team will collaborate and combine their skills to complete a use case project. Then, at Inspire each team will have the opportunity to present their project to the Inspire attendees, who will serve as judges. But don’t worry, for those who can’t attend the conference, there will be a way to vote for your favorite racing team on the Alteryx community! The reimagined Grand Prix will allow more individuals to participate, will highlight individual core competencies, and fully embodies the spirit of what we are building with the Alteryx community.

Similar to last year, our Alteryx User Groups are playing an important role with the 2017 Alteryx Grand Prix. If you’re interested in participating, you’ll need to put together a team and work with your local user group to compete in the qualifying rounds.

If you’re eager to flex your Alteryx muscle and interested in putting together an Alteryx User Group Racing team, here are some action items and associated dates you’ll want to note:

Feb 1st – Get your team together by networking with your local User Group. If you’re not a member of a User Group, you can find more information here. If you need further assistance, contact usergroups@alteryx.com for help

  • Each Alteryx User Group will choose their team of three, so please reach out to your local User Group leader for details on competing
  • If you need help building a team, comment on your User Group Community page and volunteer to participate

March 31st – User Group Leaders will submit their team to the Alteryx Customer Experience Team

Week of April 3rd30-minute Qualifying Rounds will be held virtually via WebEx

  • Each racer will compete individually in one of three WebEx sessions to complete workflows in their topic specialty judged by Alteryx Grand Prix referees. Successful completion earns you points, and the points for each of your three racers will be combined into an overall team score at the end
  • The top 3 scoring User Group teams will be required to compose a blog post to publish on Alteryx Community May 29th , and present their project in person in Las Vegas at Inspire 2017

Tuesday, June 6, 5-6pm – Alteryx Grand Prix session at Inspire

The Grand Prix winning team will be selected by Inspire 2017 attendees, and will receive bragging rights and a prize to bring home to their User Group.

We hope you can join us for Inspire, and cheer on your local Alteryx User Group. Early Bird pricing ends Feb 15 for Inspire 2017, and you can register here.
