Error: “Alteryx Server Usage Report: The external program ".\CollectionCheck.bat" returned an error code: 1”

 

Environment Details

 
  • Alteryx Server
    • Versions 2020.1+
  • MongoDB
  • Publish to Tableau Server tool



The AlteryxServerUsageReport.zip available on the Downloads Portal is for versions 2019.3 and below. In versions 2020.1+, Tableau output fails with the following error:
 

“Error: Alteryx Server Usage Report (8): RunBatch (695): Tool #1: The external program ".\CollectionCheck.bat" returned an error code: 1”

Cause

 

This is due to a workflow version issue (2019.3) and the version of Mongo CLI packaged with the tool (3.4 vs. 4.0). The CollectionCheck.bat macro calls to a Mongo.exe packaged with the Server Usage Report that is the wrong version.


Open the AlteryxServerUsageReport.yxmd workflow in Notepad or another text editor. If the Server environment is 2020.1 or higher and the 2nd line shows "<AlteryxDocument yxmdVer="2019.3">", this is the wrong version of the AlteryxServerUsageReport.

Use the 2020.1+ Mongo4.0 version of the AlteryxServerUsageReport.zip, found here:
Defect GCSE-920 has been logged to address this issue.
