move server settings out of Alteryx System Settings into Admin UI

Admin settings for the Alteryx server are currently split between the Admin GUI in the gallery (screenshot 1 below) and a tool called "Alteryx System Settings" (screenshot 2 below).

Please could you move all of the system settings into the Admin section of the GUI.   Not only will this allow an admin to administer the settings remotely (rather than having to be logged into the actual server with an interactive login which is needed now) - it will also consolidate them into one place which makes things easier for admins to ensure that all settings are set up correctly.

This could be done progressively - a little bit in every release - over the next couple of releases, it does not need to be done in a big reengineering or a massive big-bang release (in fact - progressive release is much more favourable since you learn along the way and big-bang releases are well known to be failure prone).

@SeanAdams Great idea, and we'd like to take the gradual approach when we can opportunistically. Which sections of system settings would you most urgently want to see as Admin Config settings? If we do this incrementally, it would be great to have some input from you and others regarding which pieces we do first.

Status changed to: Under Review

Thank you for your feedback. I'm updating this idea to Under Review as we're looking into the technicalities and best method of including this feature into the product should we decide it is best to move the server settings into the Admin UI.

As mentioned by JohnPell, if you have any feedback or preference on what settings you'd like to see in the admin settings most, please be sure to leave a comment!

Hey @JohnPelletier  - the eMail settings are worth putting into the Admin console relatively early (since we have to change password settings fairly frequently).

Ok, thanks for the input, @SeanAdams ! It makes sense to put the most frequently used settings in the Gallery UI first.
