Tree tool only loads root level in gallery?

Question

I've submitted a support case, but I figured I would ask here as well in case somebody else has come across this issue. Our server is on 2021.2, and the tree tool only loads the root level when we select a custom xml/file. Using the tree tool sample workflow, the gallery just shows this with no way to expand the USA:

It's configured to point to the sample data directory, and I know that it found the file since it found the USA part:

I've also packaged the files with the workflow and it has the same response of pulling the root level but not letting me select any deeper. Has anybody else come across this?

Thanks @mbarone ! Alteryx support was also unable to replicate the issue. We took another look at our setup, and a tweak we were making to the css file had an unintended consequence! It was fixing one thing but accidentally breaking this aspect. We're all good now.

I skipped 2021.2 and went to 2021.3 from 2020.2, so I can't confirm the behavior in .2, but I can confirm that it does not happen in .3.  Just in case this helps the devs:
