How to "preset" the role for a specific user in 2020.4 with Windows auth

Hi,

We are using Windows authentication with our private gallery.

In 2018.3 where the Permissions and Users were on separate tabs I could go to the Permissions tab and assign a role to any account in our AD. This meant that for a new starter I could find their AD account and set them to Viewer or Artisan as required prior to their start date. Then when they logged in they would have the correct permission.

In 2020.4 we only have the Users tab. That tab does not allow me to search for AD accounts, only "Alteryx" users i.e. someone who has at least tried to log in to the Gallery?

So now for our Artisans I have to wait from them to log in, then they have to contact me, then I can up their role from our default Viewer to Artisan.

Am I missing something?

Thank you for reach out. 2020.4 Introduced a new method of assigning permissions to users (not part of gallery yet) using groups. Please review the following help guide:

That makes complete sense given the new way of working.

 (not part of gallery yet) - not sure what you meant by this but I was able to create Custom groups and add users in our Gallery on 2020.4
