Hello,
My team and I are discussing the option of removing our Alteryx Server and just keeping our Alteryx Desktop designer licenses. We currently want to remove the server because few people in our company use it, and we believe we can manually run the workflows ourselves when needed.
The majority of our workflows are based on these fundamental concepts:
Connecting Excel/PDFs to our drives and exporting results to folders
Connecting to CCH Axcess database (SQL) to put data
Connecting to Microsoft Azure
API to Yahoo Finance
API to QB Online
API to CCH Axcess Tax to pull information
Our concern is: what issues and services will we lose if we remove the company server and just keep the desktop licenses? Do we lose the features of calling APIs and connecting to CCH Axcess Tax?
We know we will lose these features and we are okay with this: workflow scheduling, version control, and user access.

Hi @digeorgiok ,
You won`t lose anything you can do in your Designer before loading to the Server.
However, I would carefully evaluate whether removing the server is the right choice. I totally understand the cost is high if you are not leveraging the features. Still, sometimes, a simple set of training sessions can make your Alteryx users comfortable enough to start using the server as it is supposed to or understand additional features available to make your lives easier.
I suggest discussing this with your Alteryx account executive and seeing if you can get these trainings (for free) before removing the server entirely. You might find use cases that you haven't considered before and that having the server could really benefit the team.
Best,
Fernando Vizcaino
