Alteryx Server Connectivity - Port 445 issue

Hi Community,

Was wondering if any of you came across issue of opening up of port 445 on Alteryx Server in terms of file transfer from and to other instances.

What could be an efficient solution in case if port 445 lock-down is unavoidable?

Many thanks in advance!

Emil

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your reply!

We are configuring workflows which preferably directly read files from various data sources outside the server environment, however we do not want to use any technology which uses port 445. What other ways do you know how Alteryx could connect and read files on an outside location, without using port 445? We would want to avoid transferring all files into AWS (where our Alteryx Server is), but keep them in their sources.

Many Thanks in advance!

Emil

Hi @Emil_Hasanov,

What type of data sources were you thinking about?

Thanks,

Hi @MichaelAd

Flat files. Various formats: *.txt, *.xlsx, *.xls, *.yxdb, *.csv, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Emil

Hi @Emil_Hasanov ,

Blocking port 445 (SMB) blocks the normal method Windows uses to access shares. Therefore, I would not expect any ability to access remote folders.

Thanks,

Michael
