Set Macro Search Path when installing Alteryx

Storing macros in a central 'library' and accessing them via the "Macro Search Path" is great for ensuring that everyone is using the same code.

It would be great if the Alteryx installation process prompted for this information. In that way, a new user would automatically have access to the macros.

Absolutely agree with you Tom.

In our case, we'd want to set this up as part of the standard installer so that all of our users would point to the same place.

So - we're now collecting a fair set of needs around the shared Macros:

a) ability to treat a specific location in the gallery as a specfic "Macros" location

b) ability to reference this from within Alteryx Designer so that these shared macros come up on the designer toolbar even though they are located on the gallery

c) ability to set this reference for all users at time of install

d) when these macros are used in a flow - make sure that the canvas points out to the gallery version (shallow copy) so that any updates to the macro will ripple through all users.

We have quite a bit of work to do in the macros space - very happy to jump on a call with the Alteryx team and Tom and any other ACEs who have views on this.

Has any progress been made on the this? The process of making the macro available on the server seems quite complicated. Is there a centralized way to provide all users access to macros on the server machine?
