How To: Increase the Logging Level for the Python tool Interface (Jupyter Web Configuration)

The Python tool interface is based on a Jupyter Notebook. As of Alteryx Designer 2018.4, the Python tool can create logs for its web configuration. The frequency of these logs can be increased by switching on the debugging log level. Note that output file will be bigger and that it will impact Python tool performance in Designer.

Prerequisites

  • Alteryx Designer ≥ 2018.4

Procedure

  1. Stop Alteryx Designer
  2. Open the file %ALTERYX DIRECTORY%\bin\Miniconda3\etc\jupyter\jupyter_notebook_config.py
    1. example: C:\Program Files\Alteryx\bin\Miniconda3\etc\jupyter\jupyter_notebook_config.py
  3. Add the following text to the file to enable debug mode, and increase the level of logging:
    c.Session.debug = True
  4. Add the following text to the file to turn the debug logging off:
    c.Session.debug = False
