DE28137: Error: "The external program "D:\Alteryx\bin\AlteryxEngineCmd.exe" returned an error code: 1: The system could not find the environment option that was entered." when the called workflow ends with warnings

Issue

 

Using AlteryxEngineCmd.exe in the After Run event of a workflow to call another workflow returns the following error if the latter workflow completes with warnings.
 

Error: Designer x64: The Designer x64 reported: Error running Event #1: The external program "D:\Alteryx\bin\AlteryxEngineCmd.exe" returned an error code: 1: The system could not find the environment option that was entered. (203)

Environment

• Alteryx Designer
  • Version(s) < 2022.1

Cause

Defect (DE28137) has been logged to:

• Provide a better message. The current one is misleading.
• Or, returns no error message if the workflow completes with just warnings.

 

Resolution

This issue has been addressed in Designer version 2022.1.1 and above.
