Make Python tool installation optional

Python tool could be useful... for those who need it. Otherwise it just takes time to install and disk space, or even be a security problem for some companies.

Why not make its installation optional so that people could chose to install it only if they need it, or choose to install it later (like the predictive tools for example).

Thanks,

Thank you for your feedback!

This is another fun idea! And overall your idea looks good to go to product once the necessary criteria are met. Be sure to check out our updated Submission Guidelines and check out other ideas related to the Python Tool under the Category Developer label.

In the latest release 2021.2, the intelligence suite tools were separated from the main Designer install... I don't believe the Python tool is part of this. However, the install time is now significantly faster than before as the intelligence suite packages are not installed.

This is a good point @Joe_Lipski.

The installation of the Python tool is indeed faster with more recent versions, especially since conda-unpack is involved. But this still does not address the case where a company does not want users to access the Python tool due to internal policies.

Also, with recent versions of Designer, where the process to reset the Python tool can't work, being able to reinstall only the Python tool could offer an alternative.
