Add Geocoding for IP addresses

For those with large web and streaming-media server logs, the ability to geocode IP addresses be an excellent feature, similar to Alteryx's ability go geocode street addresses. Several IP geocoding services exist, with different levels of accuracy and cost. Ideally, the user should be able to choose their own service if they have one, in addition to a default service built-in to Alteryx.

A proof of concept is documented in this post

The IP geocoding tools should include:

  • IP address to IP number conversion, and the reverse
  • IPv4 and IPv6
  • Output for postal code, country, city, state, latitude/longitude centeroids

As far as I know this IP to geo conversion is done by massive data sets

that contain a historical data of spatial info and Ip data...

So it's not a matter of a tool but a having a data set available...

If you have reach to dataset like that we can put a macro to the gallery immediately...

Hello,

Our lovely Alteryx community. Did anybody figure out how to geocode IP addresses using this database https://lite.ip2location.com/database/ip-country-region-city-latitude-longitude-zipcode-timezone

I could easily do that in Tableau based on this post on Tableau knowledge base https://kb.tableau.com/articles/howto/mapping-ip-address-geocode-data

However, I would like to leverage the power of Alteryx spatial analysis and geocode in Alteryx.

I would so much appreciate any help

Thanks
