Using the Fuzzy Match tool

I want to use the Fuzzy match to sort my below issue, I have matched two spreadsheets together using the join tool so it looks like the below:

Int ID NameCustomer
1Linked
2Tommys
3LeesGarage
4GeorgesPicks
5Harrys
  Linked Inc
  Joes
  Georges Pick
  Harrys Store

I want to use the tool to say if there is a name and customer similar then show the match and link it to the internal ID so it will look like the below:

Int ID NameCustomer
1LinkedLinked Inc
2Tommys
3LeesGarage
4GeorgesPicksGeorges Pick
5HarrysHarrys Store

  Joes

Can this be done or am I using the right tools ?

Hi James,

I'd reorganize your data a bit differently.
Manually line up Name and Customer and check out the workflow attached.

Let me know if that helps you out 🙂

So my only issue would be is I am not able to manually touch the data as it we are trying to work a way of doing it just automated.

Hi @JamesG2806

In your previous thread, a few of us posted some suggestions. https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Alteryx-Designer-Discussions/Trying-to-use-fuzzy-match/td-p/441851 to quickly get you to them.

You can take my solution, and modify it slightly so that what doesn't match from the right table will also show in the results. You'd just join back the Customer table to the matched pairs, like I'd done with the Name table to the matched pairs.

If you are only reading the data in, you can manipulate the order with Alteryx and never actually change the source. Just another thing to love about the program.

If any posted solutions help you, please mark them as solved in both threads. Or you can remove one of the threads after you get a solution in the other. That helps when anyone is searching the community for an answer.

Cheers!

Esther

These resources helped me when I started working with the Fuzzy Match tool:

Training videos for Fuzzy Matching: https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Videos/Live-Training-Index-amp-Welcome/m-p/45161/thread-id/41

Tool Mastery article for Fuzzy Matching: https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Alteryx-Designer-Knowledge-Base/Tool-Mastery-Fuzzy-Match/ta-p/45485

Under the Make Group tool, the example uses the Fuzzy Match tool.
