Suggested Resources for Learning More about Predictive Analytics

I am looking for suggestions on resources (books, articles, websites, online courses, etc.) to accelerate understanding Predictive (and other) advanced analytics. The tools in Alteryx look powerful and I think would be useful for us to uncover hidden value from our customers and business. But I could use some help on finding the best resources for learning.

I like @DrDans book as a primer.

Check out the 'Virtual Training' classes offered by Alteryx:

Each is geared to a specific topic and there are several focused on learning predictive analytics.  Most importantly, they are free!

I attended a 3 day version earlier this year and it was a tremendous help in learning Alteryx, but also provided a great foundation in some of the more popular statistical techniques (ex. they 'why you would use this method for this type of problem')

Thank you for the book suggestion. I'll have to check that out...but, it seems a bit more advanced than where I am right now. :)

After reading and learning from Dr Dan's book and doing all the exercises, also try this book 'Introduction to statistical learning in R' written by

Dr. Hastie and Dr. Tibshirani at Stanford.

@adrianloong's suggestion is an excellent one! And if anyone with a strong math background is looking for a book with more mathematical detail, I'd highly recommend Elements of Statistical Learning, which is by the same authors. You can get it as a free pdf here: http://statweb.stanford.edu/~tibs/ElemStatLearn/printings/ESLII_print10.pdf
