Spatial Matching near water locations

Has anyone else experienced issues when using spatial objects near coastal or water locations?  I have been using Alteryx for years and there are times I just can not get a US address (centroid) to match to a census geography and typically those locations are on or near water.

Just a thought, have you used a poly-split to remove the water?  Are you checking for within or touches?

I have not tried removing the water. Will it not match to water? I have
used many of the methods on within/ intersecting, etc..

Thank you.

without seeing the actual data and polygons, it is just a guess.  in troubleshooting a specific example, you could look at one point that is expected to match and get a better understanding of it.  did you want to post a specific example?

kristic,

If you are just doing a simple point-in-polygon test, then an alternate that I use in this the Find Nearest tool instead of the Spatial Match tool.
