Sharepoint Input Tool for List in Cloud changed service principal authentication

The Sharepoint input tool from Gallery recently changed configuration for app-only connection. The "Client Secret" is gone and the "Thumbprint" and "Private Key" are now required. The documentation doesn't seem to help documentation  doesn't seem to have kept up. As I read it,

hroderickthr_0-1674674718861.png

still refers to the old way and I need to know how to get "Thumbprint" and "Private Key"

Where do I get these values? Sharepoint Admin? Azure Admin? Other?

We need to configure to run in an unattended background process.

Hi @hroderick-thr

Yes, the Sharepoint admin can create one for you, but if you are one of the owners of the specific site that contains the list, you can create it by yourself.

I got the instructions with the IT of a previous company and put it here, but you can find youtube videos to do that to:

Thanks Felipe! I expect this is right but it will take time to work out. When I do I'll give you the green checkmark

I'm going to accept Felipe's solution because it will work and I've learned of an alternative we will pursue.

These links from Microsoft describe the SharePoint method and the Azure method that someone may find useful.

We have Azure hosting our Microsoft 365 products and are trying to centralize administration there instead of in various products like SharePoint, Outlook, etc.

Where do you find the thumbprint?

Still none to the links or comments mention about the thumbprint. Is there something simple that I am missing here. Let me know.

My unproven understanding is a thumbprint is type of token based on a certificate...and it expires.

This may help explain
