Record not present in dataset

I am receiving an error when loading a .txt file. The error says: "A field was missing ... in record 23844". 

What surprises me is when looking into the data the total imported records stops at 23,670. Can anyone explain this mismatch to me? I would expect that it stops on the error thus still displaying a total of 23843 records. 

I hope someone can clarify so I can further investigate the error.

Unfortunately no I can't. I have gotten a little further though. My .txt file seems to have blank lines which seem to be causing the / an error.
