Does anyone know how to read an excel doc embedded within a word doc?
I also need to read info on word doc, the best way I've seen to do this is to convert to .txt and read as .csv but that does not give me any useable info on the embedded excel doc other than the name without file format.
Would appreciate any ideas or workarounds anyone can think of !!!
Here's one approach. I'm making the assumption that you are working with an xlsx file embedded in a docx file.
1) Change the file extension from .docx to .zip (a docx is just a fancy zip file). You could create a batch file to do this and run it via the CMD tool, perhaps passing through the filename from a Directory tool.
2) Connect to the zip file using an Input tool.
3) Select the embedded Excel file from the Extract File menu.
I've attached the sample document I created to solve this.
