Preventing Input Data Tool converting strings to Boolean

Bal

Hi,

I have an Excel File with a column containing string values "TRUE/FALSE/DISABLED".

When using the Input Data tool, the values are automatically changed to "1/0/DISABLED".

The metadata shows that the column remains a "V_String" type.

Is there a way to stop this conversion happening, and for the input data tool to keep the actual string values as per the original excel file?

(I am using a formulae tool to convert back to the original values, but ideally I shouldn't have to do this.)

Many thanks.

Hi @Bal ,

you can simply change the input type from Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) to Microsoft Excel Legacy (.xlsx). This will then retain the original text:

I remember scratching my head the first time this happened to me, then I accordantly solved it, but I wasn't too sure what I did to resolve it. Now it's coming together! 🙂
