MB Rules and Survival Analysis getting stuck

Hello guys,

I'm fairly new to Alteryx but eager to learn more about it.

I've been using the MB rules and Survival Analysis nodes and both of them seem to get stuck at certain percentages.

MB Rules gets stuck at 11% using sales data containing roughly 4 million rows.

Survival Analysis gets stuck after wanting to split the data into groups. Without splitting I get a nice Kaplan-Meier curve, but if I want to split the data into 5 different groups, the workflow gets stuck at 36%.

I have to say that my laptop has only 4GB of RAM and Alteryx is using less than 1 GB. I wonder if this is a memory issue or something else.

Thanks in advance for your help,

With kind regards,

Hi @Kandemiro

If performance is an issue for you, certainly start searching for a RAM update.

Regarding the MB Rules, what exactly are you pursuing? If you want to know the typical case of associations/co-ocurrences, maybe the MB Affinity Tool can give you a faster way to get Co-ocurrence, similarity or distance.

A new laptop has been ordered. Thanks for the reply.

After getting a new laptop with 32GB RAM, the problem isn't solved.

There are 6,4 milyon records and around 750 unique items.
So the question remains why the macro gets stuck at 10%.

I let the computer run for over 7 hours and it didn't make any difference.

The MB Rules seems to get stuck at MB Rules: abbreviate, write.

Hi @Kandemiro

Just bare that % indicators are not accurate at all. Since they're within the macro, in the R code, what may be happening is that the process being run (starting @10%) is still running, and because of that, the legend is not updated.

Have you tried a smaller dataset just to see if the process completes?

Yes I've tried a smaller data set.

That does complete.

Knowing that the data & model / workflows completes with a smaller dataset, I'd let the actual model keep running until it completes (remember the MB Rules must create a matrix with every possibility and the occurrences in every pair of items in memory)

Again, don't get confused about the advance %, it doesn't reflect the actual running %
