We're planning to install Alteryx Designer in an AWS EC2 instance. The instance will be created by an auto-scaling group configured to always keep 1 instance running. Alteryx will be installed using a PowerShell script in EC2 user data. This script will also activate the Alteryx license. If an instance dies, the auto-scaling group will replace it with another instance, install & activate Alteryx on it. Is this an acceptable use of the license key? The same key will be used to activate several instances as one dies & another is created, especially during the testing of this AWS infra creation process. The license will never be active on more than 1 instance at the same time.

Hi @HarishKM
Your designated Account Executive will need to talk through the specifics of licensing as it relates to your contract. Generally speaking, however, Alteryx is designed to live in a persistent environment.

Hi @HarishKM
Going off of what Brandon said, when the environment is not persistent you run into issues of the seats on your license key being consumed every time you create a new instance. For example when one of your instances "dies" if it's not persistent a seat on that license key will stay activated or consumed and when you activate the license key again you will then take up another seat on the key. Or if it's a 1 seat license key you will get an error.
Does you script also deactivate on the way out?
Thanks,
Brandon H
