I tried to find the answer in the community and I was about to write a question but found the answer in the meantime.
Some user could be faced with the same question so best to record the answer here in the community content.
How can I find the tool by its tool number (16)?
ie: Error: Input Data (16): File not found ...."
It is even worse when there is an error in a macro, the tool number (#) is provided but I'd like to find the # among hundreds of them.
use CTRL-F to find a tool by its number
On the messages window pane, you can click on the tool (ex. 'Input Data (16)' is actually a hyperlink) which will automatically select the particular node referenced in that message error line.
Thanks Jason for the tip.
however, when the error is in a Macro, there is no hyperlink.
So you need to open the macro and find the tool (#).
You can right-click on an empty space on the canvas and select Find tool. A dialog with tool names and ids will pop up.
