Can someone point me in the right direction? I am looking for a tool that will detect changes to a SQL table. I have a static parts number table, but would like to get notified when there is an add, change, delete to the table.
Do you need to discover the changes instantly, or do you need to find the changes during a scheduled time period (ETL load)?
If you need to discover the changes "instantly" I would look into the functionality within SQL server itself called "Triggers". This is a pretty big topic related to SQL server, but in my opinion is the "Best" way to handle instant events and changes on a sql server database.
This will be "necessary" as well if you need to capture data being DELETED from tables. If you are not dealing with deleted records there are quite a few other options, but a SQL trigger is the correct functionality that you will need; in my humble opinion.
