I might be shooting from left field on this one but I want to create a workflow and share it with a coworker, who doesn't own or have an Alteryx license.
I am thinking something like a .exe file so they can run it and only able to drop excel files to it and run it and grab the results.
Is this even possible or can I share this idea?
Does this make sense?
Solved! Go to Solution.
That is not possible without the Server product. On a desktop, Alteryx workflows can only be run if the user has an Alteryx license. If you have a Server/private gallery available to you, you can host the workflow on the server and create an analytic app so the user can swap out the input file and run the workflow.
Workflows can also be run via command line using the AlteryxEngineCmd.exe, but that is only available if you have a Server or Scheduler license add-on.
Let me know if you have any additional questions!
HI @echuong1 ,
I just logged in to the gallery, does that mean I have access to create a workflow there?
Also, do you have a link on how to go about all this, create a private gallery, create my workflow as an analytical app, etc?
thanks,
Everyone has access to upload and run workflows on the Public Gallery. Any workflow that is hosted here that is not in your private studio (which it would need to be for another user to run it) would be available for anyone to run. If this is more of a project you'd only like select people to run, you'd need to have Alteryx Server, which will give you access to a private gallery. You can connect with your account executive if this is something you're interested in.
With regard to making your workflow into an analytic app, you need to add interface tools to your workflow to allow a user to run the workflow using an input file of choice. See here for additional information:

Sorry, i'm new to Alteryx. Pardon me for my ignorance, following-up on the same question. Can I share the Alteryx workflow with my colleague who doesn't have access to Alteryx?
hey @Vikas27
That's one of the (many) main uses of server yes!
You can set up a workflow, upload it to the server, and share that workflow with another user. They are then able to hit run on that workflow and experience the results.
They cannot, however, edit the workflow or download it/access it, unless they have Designer. An alternate route to this is Analytic apps, which allow you to create an interface for your workflows. Let's say, for instance, you want them to be able to run a report based on their county, you could easily create an interface, asking them which county they want to select from a dropdown. This value could then be used in a filter inside the workflow. More on these here:

Hope this helps,

Thanks for the response !
Sorry for the lame question, I'm new to this Alteryx community and have a lot to learn. I've the workflow ready, how can i get that uploaded to the server? And how should i share it with my colleague can i do it via email or need to give server link?
Thanks in Advance !
Vikas
hey @Vikas27
You will need to add the workflow to the server (in designer --> File --> Save as --> Private Gallery). This will save to your server, in a private studio (only for you).
You then need to setup a collection, and add the user you want to share your workflow with, to that collection. They are then able to login to the server, and access that workflow. They will just need a link to the gallery.
Theres some more information here, which may be useful:

Thanks a lot ! will take a look.
I use server. I love it. Easy to share workflows and analytic apps, great for scheduling. One issue is that my user needs to run a workflow using Google sheets as a source. That only seems to work in Designer. Therefore, she cannot run it. We already have temporary shared drives and some files being converted to Excel so they can run on server. However, this one instance needs to stay in Google sheet and we cannot use Alteryx server for that. I wish she could just run this one workflow somehow packaged in way to allow the run using Google sheets.
