Hey!

I want to sent an email with the Email Tool. I have any private smtp-server installed. So I want to use a public smtp-server like smtp.mail.yahoo.com or so.

But I get always error messages

For example::

Error: Email (1): Record#1: Unable to send email: "Error with FROM: 530 5.7.1 Authentication required (smtp.mail.yahoo.com)

Email (1)    Record#1: Unable to send email: "Error with FROM: 530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first. bg10sm31815348wjb.46 - gsmtp (smtp.gmail.com)

But the is no input option for the necessary authentfcation, conection security and so on..

How can I find such input option in Alteryx Designer?

Mathias

Hi Mathias,

Have you tried using the Autodetect SMTP option in the eMail Tool?

I never used a Yahoo account, but I've been using it without problems with Gmail and my corporate accounts.

I'll be getting a Yaho account to try your configuration and let you know.

Just got my Yahoo account. Did the testing with Autodetect SMTP, and my brand new yahoo account. Worked fine, but... Apparently, Yahoo is very restrictive in terms of "massive" mailings and relaying (They blocked my account after 5 emails).

Can you send a print screen of your configuration of the Email Tool?

Hey!

I have no installed smtp server to use. We use alway webmail services.

Use smtp yahoo:

Use Autodetect SMTP:

It is always the same you see!

I cannot reproduce your error. Besides the messages alerting about bulk emailing, everything is working fine at my side.

Just to shorten the possible factors that may affect you:

- Maybe you're behind some firewall blocking access?

Can you try using this two options?

1 - Use the same address (which I presume is something@yahoo.com) at the Events configuration. It´ll give a hint if you're able to access or not the SMTP.

2 - Try other email address in the from Field of the Email Tool (such as Gmail) to discard is a Yahoo specific problem.

Try a free SMTP server, up to 6K free emails per month / 200 per day.

Hey,

a happy new year and thank you for your support.

I have try your possible solutions.

After that I have installed SmtpAuth.

SmtpAuth is a small program which is to be used in conjunction with email clients that do not support smtp authentication.

So I use localhost as SMTP.

But without success anytime.

But one difference I get, when I use locahost with SmtpAuth.

The run never finished. So I stop the Worklfow run manually Man Frustrated

Now I have no concept any more.

Hey,

I have found the feature.

I is not possible to send an mail to an address like myname@prefrix-postfix.de

The corrupt character is the - (hyphen) in the to-Field.

I have still send mail to such an mail-address. So I get no change to guess the feature.

Because the error message was still: Error: Email (1): Record#1: Unable to send email: SMTP Failure.

But now Man Wink

Please Alteryx fix this feature.

Hi Mathias,

I am able to successfully send emails to addresses containing hyphens.  However, if I change the email to an invalid email, I get the error that you mention.  Can you verify the email address you are sending to?  I may be able to provide a test email for you to use if it still doesn't work for you.
